Bayern 'mole' reveals Pep discipline

Bayern Munich have had more of coach Pep Guardiola's words to his players in the dressing room leaked by a "mole" thought to be among the playing staff.

50-50 challenge: Arsenal vs. Bayern

In late November 2013, Guardiola was angered to see his tactical plan the Bundesliga match at Borussia Dortmund -- a crucial fixture in the title race at the time -- were made public by German tabloid Bild.

The Spanish coach reportedly warned his players that he would trace the mole, saying that "heads will roll" once the perpetrator has been found, while Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge indicated that the club might sell the "mole" if they were found.

The story disappeared from the headlines as the club's off-field search proved fruitless and they continued to dominate the Bundesliga on the pitch.

However, a report in Sport Bild on Wednesday -- about Bayern's supposed pursuit of Schalke forward Julian Draxler -- appears to signal the return of the "mole" with a revelation about Guardiola disciplining Toni Kroos and Mario Mandzukic in the dressing room.

Like in several other recent reports in Germany, Sport Bild then ties Draxler’s future to Bayern midfielder Kroos, who has so far been reluctant to prolong his stay at the club beyond 2015.

"Toni Kroos continues to be a minor political issue at the club," the copy says, and reports that "egotism will be punished more severely" in the future, referring to Kroos throwing his gloves towards the bench when substituted during Bayern’s hard-fought 2-1 win at Stuttgart in January.

According to Sport Bild, Guardiola admonished Kroos and striker Mandzukic -- who reportedly denied Guardiola a handshake -- in the dressing room and hinted they may lose their respective places in the team by saying: "I was brought here to make decisions. You are entitled to be annoyed -- but not in public for everyone to see.

"There will now be cases of hardship. Luckily Javi [Martinez] and Bastian [Schweinsteiger] are back."

The paper also claims that Schalke turned down a 30 million euro offer for Draxler from Arsenal during the January transfer period and says, contrary to recent statements, that Bayern have contacted Draxler’s agent Roger Wittmann through sporting director Matthias Sammer with a request to be kept informed should a club meet Draxler’s 45.5 million euro release clause.
