Hamburg sign Papadopoulos on loan

Will Sule benefit from Bayern move?

De Bruyne: Wolfsburg right for me

New Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has said he felt confident he had made the right choice when he decided to move to the Bundesliga from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

De Bruyne told kicker he had wanted to make a permanent switch back to Germany after spending last season on loan at Werder Bremen.

The Belgium international, 22, put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal with ambitious Wolfsburg on Saturday, bringing an end to a long transfer saga.

Speaking about his frustration at being unable to secure a starting place in Jose Mourinho's Chelsea lineup, he told kicker: "To be honest, it's difficult to only play one game a month. I don't think I was bad, but I was also not able to play extraordinarily well.

"But you learn from everyone -- 23 out of 25 players there are national team players. The standard is incredibly high."

Wolfsburg beat off competition from several Bundesliga sides to land De Bruyne. Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke had also been interested, but were unable to match a transfer fee thought to be in the region of 22 million euros.

"I am someone who trusts his gut instinct, and that's what I did when I went to Bremen," he said. "I did not want to go on another loan, and I had a good feeling about Wolfsburg right from the start."

He said he had not expressed any discontent about his situation at Stamford Bridge to Mourinho, adding: "I am not the kind of guy who takes everything to the coach if things don't go right."
