Wolfsburg reject Stoke bid for Ivica Olic

Wolfsburg have turned down an offer from Stoke City for attacker Ivica Olic, according to the Bundesliga club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs.

Olic, 34, who has struck seven goals and started every game for Die Wolfe this season, is under contract until the summer.

In recent weeks, Stoke have tried to lure the Croatia international to the Premier League. Wolfsburg, however, have other plans.

“That was totally odd,” Allofs said of the Potters’ bid to kicker. “There is not a single reason to let go of our top scorer.”

Olic, who has also played for Hertha Berlin, Hamburg and Bayern Munich in the German top flight, has no plans himself to leave Wolfsburg this month.

The striker says he wants to finally score more than 14 goals in a Bundesliga season -- his current record from the 2007-08 campaign with Hamburg.

“To score 15, that would be a dream,” Olic told kicker, adding that he will discuss his future with Allofs in early February.
