De Bruyne agent 'at Wolfsburg training'

Wolfsburg appear to be edging closer to signing Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne, with the Belgium international’s agent reportedly seen at the Bundesliga club’s winter training camp in Abu Dhabi.

Kevin De Bruyne has had limited opportunities under Jose Mourinho this season.

Lythell: Mikel the unlikely hero

Late last week several media outlets in Belgium, England and Germany reported that Wolfsburg were leading the chase for De Bruyne, 22, who has become increasingly frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

With the World Cup taking place this summer, the former Genk man is aware that he needs regular football if he is to earn a place in Marc Wilmot’s Belgium squad.

And on Monday morning, according to kicker, De Bruyne’s agent Patrick de Koster was seen at Wolfsburg’s winter training camp.

"Hopefully something happens,” De Koster is quoted as saying. “Kevin would prefer a move to the Bundesliga.”

Kicker claims that De Bruyne could join Die Wolfe in time to take part in their winter training camp. However, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said the final decision does not rest with the club.

“The ball is in Chelsea’s court,” Allofs said.

According to earlier reports, Chelsea and Wolfsburg are still far from agreeing a transfer fee for the midfielder.

German media suggest that the Bundesliga side are willing to pay 15 million euros, while the Telegraph claims that the Blues are demanding 30 million euros.

But De Koster said: “That is not true.”

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg midfielder Diego has told kicker that he will not leave the club in January.

The 28-year-old had been linked with a move away from Die Wolfe, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

“Right now it is clear that I will at least stay until the end of the season,” the Brazilian playmaker, who has been moved to play on the wing during the first half of the season, told kicker. “There are many options for me, but not during the winter. All clubs who approached me want me in the summer.”

However, Diego is eager to hear about Wolfsburg’s plans first before he starts looking elsewhere.

“Before the break, I sat down with Klaus Allofs,” he said. “He told me that there will be a decision in late January, early February. I’ll wait and will see what the club thinks.”
