Matthias Sammer blasts Bayern

Bayern Munich director of sport Mathias Sammer hit out at the club's players for "playing football without any emotions" -- despite watching them beat Hannover 2-0 to move up to second place in the Bundesliga.

Matthias Sammer is eager to ensure Bayern do not become complacent.

Schaaf: Patience needed

The champions were lacklustre in the first half of the game at the Allianz Arena before finding more spark after the break to record another win.

And Matthias said he wanted to see more aggression from last season's treble-winners, adding: "We are playing lethargically at times, playing football without any emotion and just going through the motions.

"When you are struggling in the first half, you've got to help each other out in the tackles and bring a bit more emotion into play.

"Instead, we are too relaxed and just watch -- we've won five titles in the last 15 months, Franck Ribery's been named Best Player in Europe and he'll probably also win the Ballon d'Or.

"It's not that we are not working, just we're not showing any emotions at all."

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola was reported to have vented his anger at the players during the break, but Sammer said the players should be ensuring that he did not have to do so.

"It's not on that Pep has to raise his voice all the time," he said. "Our coach always has to give a heated speech before we get going."

He accused the players of "hiding behind the coach", who has come under scrutiny over the changes he has made to the style and approach of last season's Champions League winners.

"It's all about Pep. Pep here, Pep there, Pep's great, Pep's poor -- we're finding it all great because we're no longer in the limelight and this affects you subconsciously," he explained. "We're all hiding behind the coach."
