Hannover sign Dortmund's Bittencourt

Hannover have signed Borussia Dortmund youngster Leonardo Bittencourt on a four-year contract that includes a buy-back option of around €6 million.

Bittencourt, 19, has left the Champions League runners-up in search of more regular first-team football after making only five appearances last season, with his transfer thought to be worth between €2 million and €3 million.

The Germany Under-20 international moved to Dortmund from Energie Cottbus for a reported €2.7 million, but played most of his football in the reserves.

"We are confident about Leo Bittencourt's arrival because he comes to us in great condition and has a number of skills," Hannover sporting director Dirk Dufner said.

"He will strengthen our team - he picked up invaluable experience with Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund last season. He suits our transfer policy. We want to keep our team young whilst continuing to invest in individual quality."

Coach Mirko Slomka was equally delighted, saying: "We've got ourselves a fast player who can dribble with the ball."

Bittencourt said he felt he had chosen the right destination, adding: "I am a passionate footballer, and my main desire is to show what I can do as often as possible.

"I have a really good feeling that Hannover is the right stage for me to be on."
