Goretzka's Schalke move stalls

Leon Goretzka’s proposed transfer from Bochum to Schalke has stalled after the two clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee for the 18-year old.

Goretzka’s switch to Schalke looked all but done last week and he was set to complete a reported €3 million move to the Royal Blues.

However, according to German media reports, the player’s current Bochum contract has become a matter of dispute between the two parties.

Schalke believe the deal includes a release clause - the amount that they have offered to their German counterparts for Goretzka's services. Bochum, though, deny the existence of such a clause.

“I cannot confirm a release clause,” Bochum CEO Ansgar Schwenken told WAZ.

Kicker, meanwhile, reported on Tuesday that Bochum were trying to up their asking price for Goretzka, despite his release clause.

The two clubs have already agreed personal terms and the box-to-box midfielder is keen to complete a move to Schalke.

Goretzka has been hailed as one of German football’s biggest talents after just one full season with second-tier side Bochum.
