The Norway international, who scored 35 goals in 103 games for the Lower Saxony side, has signed a four-year deal at Stuttgart.

The 27-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at Hannover, with the club possessing a wealth of options up front in Mame Diouf, Jan Schlaudraff, Didier Ya Konan and Artur Sobiech.

On their official website, the Reds thanked Abdellaoue for his three years of service to the club, while wishing him all the best for the future.

Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic, meanwhile, said: "I’m delighted that we could secure the services of Moa. He is an internationally experienced player with exceptional ability. With him in the side, we are distinctly more flexible in attack."

Abdellaoue will help strengthen the DFB-Pokal runners-up's front line, currently made up of Bosnia's Vedad Ibisevic and former Germany international Cacau.

"I was very happy about the offer and really wanted to come here,” Abdellaoue said. “VfB is a fantastic club, with many great players and a long tradition. For me, this move is a massive step forwards and I am truly looking forward to the coming years with VfB Stuttgart."
