Kruse poised for Monchengladbach move
Freiburg midfielder Max Kruse is set to join Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach for €2.5 million, according to reports in the German media.
Kruse, 25, joined Freiburg from FC St. Pauli at the start of the season, but is set to leave after only a year.
The attacking midfielder has scored seven goals and set up a further seven in 26 Bundesliga games, but recently it was revealed that his contract contains a release clause and he now appears poised to move.
“Yes, it is true - we want that player. But nothing has been signed yet,” Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl said.
His Freiburg counterpart, Dirk Dufner, said: “We know that Max Kruse is in contact with Gladbach, and we can imagine a transfer will happen.”
However, the deal will not be done before the weekend, when Freiburg take on Borussia Monchengladbach at home.
Kruse said he was concentrating only on that game, telling kicker: “Of course, I will try to help the team on Saturday and maybe even score the decisive goal.
“I am fully focused on the game against Gladbach. Everything else remains to be seen.”
