Giovanni Simeone hopes to be coached by father Diego one day

Genoa forward Giovanni Simeone says he hopes to be coached by his father Diego one day, although he does not have any plans to leave the Ligurian club.

Simeone, 21, has been a hit since joining the Serie A club in the summer and says he could not have picked a better club to start his career in Europe with.

"The Genoa fans are very much like supporters in Argentina," he said. "They are close to the team and they push you. I settled in very easily thanks also to having some of my compatriots here, because there was a linguistic barrier to begin with."

That did not stop the former River Plate forward from opening his account in just his second start for the Grifone in the 1-1 draw with Pescara, having been denied over and over again by Pepe Reina in the goalless draw with Napoli just days earlier.

"The emotion was indescribable," Simeone said. "I was so happy in that moment that I just didn't know what to do. I'd give our season a 7/10 so far, but we can do better if the fans keep their faith in us."

Simeone has clearer plans for his future, though.

"One day, I would like to be coached by a great coach like my father," he said in a Q&A session on Genoa's Facebook page.
