Genoa complete loan deal with AC Milan for midfielder Alessio Cerci

Genoa have completed a loan deal for midfielder Alessio Cerci until the end of the season.

Cerci, who was loaned to AC Milan by Atletico Madrid just one year ago, will spend the remainder of the current season in Liguria before returning to the Spanish club, where he will then still have a year left to run on his contract.

The move comes after some lengthy negotiations between the three clubs, which Genoa president Enrico Preziosi had branded as the "longest transfer talks" he had ever conducted.

The patience has paid off, however, with the 28-year-old eligible to make his debut for Il Grifone at Hellas Verona on Sunday after his club confirmed his arrival with a message on their website.

Cerci, who scored 13 goals for Torino in the 2013-14 season before moving to Spain, has failed to find the back of the net in 13 Serie A appearances this season. He was also unable to score in six Spanish Primera Division games for Atletico, while he scored only once for Milan in the second half of last season.
