Thank you for your company. Stick with us for reaction and also live coverage of this evening's other Europa League games. I've been James Dall. Cheers.

  •

Alas, they were dreadful at the back, and, with Palacio and Cassano, Inter stretched them at will. Fortunately for AVB, his decision to attack did not completely backfire.

  •

And breathe. Tottenham have made it into the last eight, but boy did they make hard work of that. After the first leg, this should have been a comfortable away performance, one of keeping it tight and letting the 90 minutes drip away.

  •

FULL-TIME: SPURS ARE INTO THE QUARTER-FINALS OF THE EUROPA LEAGUE ON AWAY GOALS

  • 120'

    Spurs clear.

  • 120'

Inter with one more chance to launch it.

  • 120'

    20 seconds left.

  • 120'

    Everyone looks shattered.

  • 120'

Spurs can't keep hold of it.

  • 120'

    Dembele hammers it clear.

  • 120'

    60 seconds left.

  • 120'

Chivu makes a key tackle to deny Adebayor. Now Inter attack.

  • 120'

Two minutes of injury time to be played.

  • 120'

Incredibly, Inter play it short. But they do work it into the box and Ranocchia climbs. He heads at goal but fails to get over the ball and his effort loops over.

  • 119'

    Handanovic is coming up...

  • 118'

    Corner to Inter...

  • 117'

Spurs now enjoying some possession. Inter look cream-crackered.

  • 116'

Inter win a corner which Ranocchia rises to meet. His header is off target though following some rare, tight marking from Spurs.

  • 115'

Adebayor is the latest to go into the book for a wild swipe.

  • 115'

Indeed, Inter are getting frustrated as Juan is booked for a late tackle on Adebayor.

  • 114'

Free-kick to Spurs in Inter's half. A chance to relieve some of the pressure here.

  • 113'

Dembele is back on by the way. His head is heavily creamed, but he seems okay.

  • 112'

Cool defending from Walker as he chests the ball back to Friedel. Spurs' hearts must be pounding.

  • 111'

Well, well, well. 4-4 on aggregate after Ricardo Alvarez arrives at the back post to head in from a Cassano cross. Spurs are still going through on away goals, but Inter have about nine minutes to grab a decisive fifth.

  • 110'

GOAL!!! Ricardo Alvarez makes it 4-4 on aggregate.

  • 109'

The tall figure of Ranocchia has slotted in up front. Inter to go even more direct.

  • 108'

    Jonathan is replaced by Ranocchia.

  • 107'

Cassano opens up his body and aims to bend one. Friedel sprawls to his left and palms the ball out for a corner.

  • 106'

Back under way. A quick change round and here we go into the final 15 minutes.

  • 105'

Half-time in the first half of extra-time. Spurs heading for the quarters.

  • 105'

Still a chance for Inter in this half as Palacio tests Friedel with a sweet strike. Dembele is off the pitch, with Vaseline being slathered to back of his head.

  • 105'

Dembele is back on his feet but looks groggy.

  • 105'

Two minutes of injury time will be played.

  • 105'

The elbow of Palacio caught Dembele on the back of the head. Spurs have used up all their subs.

  • 104'

Dembele is down after a clash of heads. He looks in some pain.

  • 103'

A stat, via Opta: "Tottenham have managed more shots in extra-time (3) than they did during the previous 90 minutes versus Inter (2)."

  • 102'

Naughton appears to have picked up a knock and is replaced by Caulker.

  • 101'

Cassano has the ball on the byline and looks to chip into the area, but the cross lacks an angle, and Friedel catches with ease.

  • 100'

The belief has drained from the Inter players' faces.

  • 99'

This opens up the debate over away goals counting in extra-time. Spurs have 30 minutes more than their opponents to do that.

  • 98'

Inter Milan need two. Not even Spurs are in that giving a mood, surely?

  • 97'

The atmosphere in the stadium has changed somewhat.

  • 96'

Huge sigh of relief from Spurs as Adebayor scores a vital away goal to make it 4-3 on aggregate. Dembele smashed a strike at goal and the goalkeeper can only parry. Adebayor is there to slide and tap in the rebound.

  • 95'

    GOAL!!! Adebayor scores!

  • 94'

To reiterate, this has been a very poor performance from Gallas.

  • 93'

Spurs should be 4-3 up. Gallas is completely free as he rises to head from a corner kick. But the Frenchman plants it the wrong side of the post. Terrible miss, and that sums up his night.

  • 92'

Ah! Vertonghen meets a corner and heads downwards. Handanovic is there to claw the ball out for another corner.

  • 91'

Parker feeds a pass into Lennon. The winger tries to curl it round the goalkeeper but Zanetti makes a fine block to deny him.

  • 90'

Kick-off: The first half of extra-time is under way.

  • 90'

What a choke this could prove to be from Spurs. At 3-0 up from the first leg, a relaxed AVB was all smiles during his post-match presser. But having thrown away the advantage, and with no Bale to call on, the momentum is with Inter. An away goal would surely seal it, however.

  • 90'

End of normal time. 3-3 on aggregate means extra-time is forthcoming.

  • 90'

BLIMEY! Gallas is sloppy on the edge of the box. Cambiasso nicks it. He strike with his left peg but drags it inches wide.

  • 90'

Lennon sprints forward to relieve the pressure.

  • 90'

Nervy clearance from Walker. Greeted by cheers.

  • 90'

Three minutes of added time to be played.

  • 89'

Palacio jinks in from the left but then gets greedy and belts one well over.

  • 88'

Alavarez swings a boot at a loose ball. It hits two Spurs players, which takes the power out of the strike, meaning Friedel scoops it up.

  • 87'

Cassano just received some lengthy treatment. Cue a decent amount of stoppage time.

  • 86'

There's a scramble in the Inter box as Lennon drives in a low cross. It deflects up into the air but Handanovic is there to claim.

  • 85'

Ah! Naughton hammers a swinging shot at goal. It looks to be swerving home only for Handanovic to turn it away.

  • 84'

    Another corner to Inter Milan...

  • 83'

Palacio latches on to a searching pass. He controls, but Lennon is there to pinch it off him.

  • 82'

Spurs press forward. It is very tight and they try and squeeze it through to Adebayor, but they run out of room.

  • 81'

It is cleared by a Gallas header. Kovacic, meanwhile, was the man just replaced.

  • 80'

    Corner to Inter...

  • 79'

Benassi comes on for Inter Milan.

  • 78'

Holtby is also booked for a foul. Regarding Walker, it was not a dive - very harsh from the referee.

  • 78'

Walker is carded for simulation, apparently. I need a replay.

  • 77'

    Well, goodness.

  • 76'

Cassano's free-kick is deflected and then once more, in off the hanging leg of Gallas. 3-3 on aggregate.

  • 75'

    GOAL!!! Gallas own goal!

  • 74'

    Looks like Cassano to take.

  • 73'

Decent chance here as Walker brings down Zanetti about 20 yards out from goal, near the corner of the box...

  • 72'

Cassano is a continual threat. He's often dropped off to receive the ball deep. Spurs need to get tighter to him.

  • 71'

Adebayor has put in an infuriating performance thus far.

  • 70'

Rodrigo Palacio slips a shot past Brad Friedel seven minutes into the second half

  • 69'

Inter change: Guarin off for Alvarez, who missed a golden chance in the first leg.

  • 68'

Lennon on the right flank, with Holtby now more advanced, playing off Adebayor. Dembele will play a little deeper now.

  • 67'

Change: Lennon comes on for Livermore.

  • 66'

Zanetti (!) is in the area. The angle is tight and he considers a cross but opts for the shot, with the outside of his boot. Friedel saves with his legs.

  • 65'

Jonathan has the opportunity to deliver from the right. He has time, and there are Inter players in the box, but he over-hits the cross. Poor.

  • 64'

Rodrigo Palacio celebrates after putting Inter two up against Spurs

  • 63'

Cassano is flagged just offside, as he again threatens to burst through.

  • 62'

Palacio feeds a ball into the box, but fails to get a clean connection and the delivery bobbles along the ground before Friedel gobbles it up.

  • 61'

Indeed, Holtby has just given it away again.

  • 60'

Super game now, on a knife edge. Holtby has been erratic since coming on - all effort, but not enough composure.

  • 59'

Cassano clips in the free-kick and Cambiasso meets it with his head, but it was awkward for the Argentine and he can only flick it over the crossbar.

  • 58'

Free-kick to Inter in a promising area to deliver into the box. Vertonghen penalised for a challenge on Palacio.

  • 57'

Cassano plays a lofty ball into the box, but Friedel is there to easily pluck the ball out of the sky.

  • 56'

Parker scurries (he is a scurrier) forward and has his ankles taken away. Free-kick.

  • 55'

Dembele is being shifted in more central, his strongest position, with Holtby on the right.

  • 54'

Defoe is the one replaced by Holtby. Presumably this should make Spurs a little more compact.

  • 53'

Holtby is about to come on.

  • 52'

Argh. Dembele is in lots of space on the right flank. He cuts into the box. The Belgian gets his head up and pass sideways, but the ball is without conviction and Inter mop up. That was a chance.

  • 51'

Oh, my. Palacio breaks clear. He is one v one with Friedel and is cool enough to roll it past the American. Now 3-2 on aggregate to Spurs. Blimey.

  • 50'

    GOAL!!! Palacio scores for Inter!

  • 49'

Something good from Adebayor. He uses his blistering pace to bomb down the left and get beyond Juan. He squares for Vertonghen, who had surged forward, but the Belgian fails to divert it home.

  • 48'

Something rare: they just flashed up a 'turnovers' statistic on screen. It is 7-5 in favour of Inter Milan, if you were wondering.

  • 47'

Similar pattern to the first half really, so far. With Spurs searching for the away goal that would be the nail in the coffin. Inter continue to look to exploit Tottenham with balls over the top.

  • 46'

Kick-off: Spurs gets the second half started.

  •

    Second half imminent.

  •

STAT, from the excellent people at Opta: "Scott Parker had more touches than any other player during the first half (62), completing 90.6% of his attempted 53 passes."

  •

Hmmm, that didn't go to plan for Tottenham. Cassano's goal has given Inter a genuine chance of a fightback, with the next goal decisive. Spurs could do with sitting a little deeper, although AVB does prefer a higher pressing game. In this instance though, with the team 3-1 up on aggregate, they should play on the counter.

  •

    Half-time: Inter 1-0 Spurs (agg: 1-3)

  • 45'

Ah, chance for Spurs. Adebayor is slipped in on the left and looks to lob the goalkeeper with a dink. But it never looked on, as the ball drops onto the top of the net.

  • 45'

Guarin stings the gloves of Friedel with a thumping strike. Gallas hoofs the clearance into the air, but is saved from being punished as a soft free-kick is awarded.

  • 45'

Two minutes of injury time will be played.

  • 44'

Super dive from Defoe. Flew into the air via no contact. No booking though. If that were Bale...

  • 43'

Ooof. Palacio shows good strength to shoulder barge Vertonghen and then loop one to the back post. But no-one is there to tuck it home.

  • 42'

Friedel is the second Spurs player to be booked for time-wasting.

  • 41'

Guarin tries his luck from 25 yards out. What he put into power he lacked in the accuracy department as it zoomed over.

  • 40'

Adebayor looks to spin in behind Inter's defence but, in spite of his burst, is beaten to it by the legendary Zanetti.

  • 39'

Livermore plays a very sloppy pass. The Inter fans loved it. They are aching for a second from their side. As I type, Parker is sloppy in possession.

  • 38'

Villas-Boas is prowling his technical area, as he does. His team have played some pretty football, yet looked iffy when Inter spring forward.

  • 37'

    In other news: Palacio's hair.

  • 35'

The next goal is plainly key, as an away strike would silence this stadium.

  • 34'

Half-chance for Tottenham as Sigurdsson swings in a free-kick from the right and Walker leaps. He gets his head to it but the ball flashes beyond the far post.

  • 33'

Have to wonder if a 4-4-2 from Tottenham was the right call. Their midfield two are a little stretched.

  • 32'

Defoe skips past his man on the right and drills in a low cross. Adebayor is behind the delivery though, and Inter hack clear.

  • 31'

Spurs popping the ball about comfortably. But they've done this before this evening, and then been done on the counter.

  • 30'

Friedel trots over to a free-kick, taking as much time as possible. Spurs arguably want half-time (full-time).

  • 29'

William Gallas is left asking questions after Antonio Cassano headed home in the 20th minute

  • 28'

Hairy moment for Tottenham as Gallas attempts to usher a long ball back to Friedel, but it doesn't have the legs and the goalkeeper is forced into a hurried kick. It drops to Cassano, who attempts a long-range lob, but it is way off target.

  • 27'

In other news, Dembele is really excellent. He breezes past opponents.

  • 26'

Spurs' high line is being punished at will. Inter have a whiff of a comeback here.

  • 25'

Cassano feeds Palacio, who races forward. He tries a cheeky chip over Friedel, who can only stand and watch. The ball plonks off the bar and over.

  • 24'

    Woodwork!

  • 23'

Deary me. Spurs ping it about on the edge of Inter's box before the ball falls to Adebayor. He controls then attempts an audacious effort that balloons over the bar.

  • 22'

The goal was a rare occasion when a downwards header actually works. Coaches urge you to do this, but how often do you see these types of headers go in?

  • 21'

Spurs respond via a Sigurdsson shot, that threaten to creep into the corner but is palmed away by Handanovic.

  • 20'

Guarin finds space on the right and feeds in a perfect cross to the back post. Cassano is there and executes a downward header that bounces up into the roof of the net. Game on, and that.

  • 19'

    GOAL!!! Cassano scores for Inter!

  • 18'

Just seen a replay of the Gallas challenge, albeit in real time. Cassano was certainly eager to go down. 'Seem them given', though.

  • 17'

Penalty shout! Cassano gets goalside of Gallas and crumples to the floor under what seemed to be little contact from the Frenchman. The ref was having none of it.

  • 16'

Inter have had most of their joy down their right flank. Naughton could do with a little more protection.

  • 15'

Livermore goes into the book for time-wasting.

  • 14'

Cassano races onto a long ball on the right-hand side. He can either shoot or cross. He goes for the strike, but it is low and straight at Friedel, who smothers.

  • 13'

Goal machine Vertonghen almost gets on the end of a cross to the back post.

  • 12'

Sigurdsson swings in the corner but Palacio is there to nod clear.

  • 11'

Defoe picks up the ball about 20 yards out. He shifts it onto his right and looks for a curler, but his strike clips the defender and is out for a corner.

  • 10'

Cassano is flagged offside. He was off by five yards.

  • 9'

Walker gets a telling off from the ref amid an attempt at minor time-wasting.

  • 8'

Cassano attempts a one-two with Guarin, but Gallas is there to cut out smartly.

  • 7'

Poor from Adebayor as he lazily tries a flick-on, when simple hold up play would have sufficed.

  • 6'

Cassano has the chance the put a decent ball in from the right but seems to panic and ends up pea-rolling one straight to Friedel.

  • 5'

Vertonghen goes crashing into Cassano and wins the ball. The latter is on the deck, displeased. Last night, in the Arsenal game, that would have been a foul.

  • 4'

Parker finds himself weigh up the field. As nose bleeds go, there is claret everywhere (they're isn't).

  • 3'

Sigurdsson takes it but Chivu heads away. Spurs enjoying possession now, popping it about nicely.

  • 2'

Sigurdsson, operating on the left, earns an early free-kick. Spurs to float it in from here, you'd think.

  • 1'

KICK-OFF: Inter get us under way.

  •

    *SOME EMPTY SEATS KLAXON*

  •

Purists will be pleased to hear that tonight it is Inter's famous black and blue versus Spurs' white - none of this red strip nonsense from the first leg.

  •

The teams are in the tunnel, and my ready meal is out of the microwave. We are in business, people.

  •

Inter might breath a sigh of relief Bale is unavailable, as the last time these two sides met at the San Siro this of course happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxtjtaIgmRk

  •

The starting of Adebayor AND Defoe raises eye-brows. Andre Villas-Boas perhaps is thinking 'attack is the best form of defence'. Furthermore, it is a little surprising the likes of Walker and Dembele start - both could do with a rest.

  •

Spurs are of course without their star man Gareth Bale through suspension after he was booked in the first leg for diving, an offence some would have you believe is the WORST THING IN FOOTBALL. Regardless of your views on the matter, him being out of the second meeting is hardly a blow, for Spurs should see this out, ensuring the Welshman is fresh for the weekend.
