Anyway, that is all from me today. Hope you enjoyed it, and see you next time.

  •

So that brings an end to England's season. They will hope to come back refreshed and ready for the new campaign that includes their remaining World Cup qualifiers. Will they be back in Brazil this time next year? We will see.

  • 93'

And there goes the full-time whistle. Considering their poor first-half display, England put in a decent performance in the second 45 minutes. They took the lead but ultimately Brazil were too strong for them to hang onto it. A very entertaining game and plenty of positives to take out of it for both sides.

  • 93'

Moura picks the ball up in space and fires a shot at goal but it takes a deflection and falls to Hernanes. The Brazilian has a go, but England get the block in once again. Top defending.

  • 92'

Brazil passing it around and probing the England defence at the minute. The away side holding strong, however.

  • 91'

Milner manages to deliver a very dangerous ball into the box from the left but Luiz is there to clear the danger with Rodwell just behind him waiting to pounce.

  • 90'

Three added minutes to be played. Enough time for a winner?

  • 89'

Bernard sends a dangerous delivery into the box with the outside of his foot. He picks out Luiz at the far post who knocks the ball back across goal, but Carrick is there again to clear to safety.

  • 88'

Alves sends the free-kick into the box but Carrick is there to get his head on it and clear the danger.

  • 87'

Damiao is brought down by Jagielka right on the edge of the box. Free-kick to Brazil...

  • 86'

Brazil seem to have regained the momentum after that equaliser. They are putting England under plenty of pressure during these closing stages.

  • 85'

This is far from over. Damiao almost latches onto a long ball over the top of the England defence, but Hart is off his line once again in a flash to clear the danger.

  • 84'

That goal was Paulinho's last contribution as he comes off for Bernard.

  • 84'

England bring on Jack Rodwell for Walcott.

  • 83'

I spoke too soon. Brazil are level, thanks to an excellent volley from the midfielder, following a cross in from the right.

  • 83'

    GOAL FOR BRAZIL. PAULINHO.

  • 82'

The last European team to beat Brazil on home soil, by the way, was England, in 1984.

  • 81'

Brazil have brought on Leandro Damiao for Fred.

  • 80'

That is seven goals in his last seven internationals for Rooney. Anything Fred can do...

  • 79'

Milner does well to drive forward down the left before picking out Rooney. The striker opens his body before curling a fine effort into the top corner. It took a deflection off Fernando, but still a great goal.

  • 79'

    GOAL FOR ENGLAND. ROONEY.

  • 78'

Good work from Moura who comes back inside from the right before playing the ball back to Alves. The right-back takes a touch before hanging in a cross but he just overhits it a little.

  • 77'

Jones goes into the book for a late challenge.

  • 76'

Lampard plays a great ball into the box to pick out Rooney. The striker brings it under control before laying it off to Milner. The Manchester City man has a go at goal but his effort is blocked. Impressive from England.

  • 75'

England clear the corner only as far as Alves, who shoots from distance. His effort takes a big deflection allowing Hart to come off his line and collect the ball.

  • 74'

Neymar picks out Moura in space on the right with a fine pass. The PSG man delivers a dangerous ball but Jones heads it clear for the corner.

  • 72'

Brazil make another change as Hulk makes way for the arrival of Fernando.

  • 71'

We have been set up very nicely for the last twenty minutes of this game. Brazil have been on top for the majority of the match, but you would not put it past England scoring another.

  • 70'

Moura drives forward with the ball in plenty of space so decides to have a go at goal, but his effort sails well over the bar. He got a little carried away there.

  • 69'

Can England build on that goal now? This past five minutes or so has been their best spell of the match. Game on.

  • 68'

England work the ball around nicely as Lampard plays it to Rooney who tees up Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Arsenal man hits it first time from the edge of the box and finds the bottom corner. What a strike.

  • 67'

    GOAL FOR ENGLAND. OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN.

  • 66'

Rooney gets on the end of the resulting corner but heads just wide. He should have hit the target there as he was unmarked. This is a good spell for England.

  • 65'

Space opens up for Milner who decides to let rip at goal from the edge of the box. His shot takes a big deflection and sails just wide of the post.

  • 65'

England win a free-kick in a dangerous position, but Rooney's delivery into the box is poor and Brazil clear with ease.

  • 64'

Carrick looks as if he has dropped into the defence almost. England playing what looks like a 3-5-2 at the minute, with the full-backs pushing forward.

  • 63'

Hulk goes into the book for a foul on Carrick.

  • 62'

England make another change. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comes on for Johnson. Jones will slot in at right-back.

  • 61'

Hulk plays a neat one-two with Neymar but as he tries to receive the pass he takes a tumble in the box after colliding with Johnson. No penalty given.

  • 60'

That was Fred's fifth international goal in five games. England could do with a striker like that at the moment.

  • 59'

Will that goal wake England up? You would like to think so, as they cannot get too much worse.

  • 58'

Fred looked to be in an offside position at first. But replays show he was onside.

  • 57'

A superb curling effort from the edge of the box by Hernanes rebounds off the bar. Fred reacts first to convert the rebound past Hart. The Maracana erupts.

  • 57'

    GOAL FOR BRAZIL. FRED.

  • 56'

Brazil bring on Lucas Moura for Oscar. The change brings a loud chorus of boos from the home fans who do not want to see the Chelsea man come off. You cannot blame them, he has been superb.

  • 55'

Cole is caught out at the back by Hulk who does well to pick out Fred. The striker cuts inside before firing an effort at goal but it deflects away to safety.

  • 54'

A better spell of possession this, but it soon comes to an end after a foul by Jones on Neymar.

  • 53'

This is more promising from England, compared to the first half display, but their final ball is stil someway off.

  • 52'

England come forward through Rooney who picks out Walcott in plenty of space down the right. The winger drives forward but delays the pass, with Milner waiting unmarked in the box. He lingers, however, and ends up passing backwards. Frustrating.

  • 51'

Lampard picks the ball up and looks for the run of Walcott down the right but the Chelsea man overhits his pass and Brazil regain possession once again.

  • 50'

Lampard sends the corner in but a free-kick is given following a foul by Jones on a Brazilian defender.

  • 49'

England win a corner as Thiago Silva heads the ball away with Rooney waiting to pounce.

  • 48'

England straight back to giving the ball away cheaply. Brazil straight back to dominating the possession.

  • 47'

Hernanes makes an instanct impact, picking out Neymar with a fine pass, however, Lampard is there to make an important challenge.

  • 46'

England get this second half underway...

  •

Brazil have brought on Marcelo and Hernanes for Felipe and Gustavo.

  •

Brazil's total of 65% possession compared to England's 35%, as well as their 20 attempts at goal to their opponents' three, makes more grim reading for England fans.

  •

Joe Hart, with 42, had more touches in the first half against Brazil than any other England player. Second was Frank Lampard, with 31.

  • 45'

And there goes the half-time whistle. There has only been one team in this. If not for Hart, England would definitely be losing by now. The Three Lions very poor, Brazil mesmerising at times.

  • 45'

One minute of added time to be played...

  • 44'

Lampard picks the ball up in space just inside the box. He tries to beat Cesar at his near post, but the angle was always too tight for the England midfielder. Rooney in the middle would have been a better option.

  • 43'

Luiz plays a long ball over the top to Oscar. The England defence are nowhere to be seen, but luckily for them Hart is off his line to close the Chelsea man down.

  • 42'

This game very much has the feel of an attack v defence training session. Brazil obviously the attacking side.

  • 41'

Oscar sees his first cross from the right blocked, so he has another go. This time he finds Fred in the middle but the striker fails to keep his header down.

  • 40'

Johnson comes forward down the right and plays a superb slide-rule pass to pick out the run of Walcott. The Brazil defence are half-asleep and the winger has a free shot at goal. He hits it straight at Cesar, though.

  • 39'

England have managed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last nine internationals away from home. It does not look like they will extend that record to six at the moment.

  • 38'

Oscar has been immense so far. Every time he has touched the ball he has made something happen. Baines, and now Cole, are really struggling trying to stop him.

  • 37'

Oscar gets to the byline once again and picks out the run of Hulk in the middle. The striker flicks the ball with his first touch but it rolls just wide of the post. Unlucky. Hart was beaten.

  • 36'

Oscar beats Cole on the left and looks to be driving into the penalty area, only to be brought down by Lampard. No foul given.

  • 35'

Rooney latches onto a loose ball and drives forward. His pass to Walcott is cut out, but it falls back into the path of the Manchester United man. He has a go at goal but his shot is blocked. Better from England.

  • 34'

Oscar comes forward down the right before cutting in and setting up Hulk. The striker tries to curl the ball into the top corner but it sails high and wide.

  • 33'

Neymar comes forward again. He has another go at goal, this time striking the ball through the legs of Johnson, but Hart always had it covered.

  • 33'

Amazingly, this is Cole's first ever appearance for England off the bench. Every other game he has started for the Three Lions.

  • 32'

Baines is forced to come off with that injury. Cole is the man to replace him.

  • 31'

Oscar picks up the ball just outside the box off Neymar. He beats Baines before rifling an effort at goal but Hart is there to make another fine save.

  • 30'

Every time England get the ball they seem to be too afraid to know what to do with it.

  • 29'

Baines is struggling a little with a knock. He should be ok to carry on, though.

  • 28'

Brazil have been all over England so far. The likes of Oscar and Neymar are terrorising the Three Lions' defence.

  • 27'

Neymar plays a neat ball into the path of Hulk but Hart is quick off his line to make the vital save. The 'keeper gets right back up and manages to get to the ball first before the incoming Filipe. Excellent goalkeeping.

  • 26'

A poor clearance from the England defence sends the ball right into the path of Oscar. The Chelsea man skins Cahill before pulling back a dangerous ball across the face of the goal. Johnson just manages to get a touch on it to divert the ball away from Fred. The right-back was very lucky there.

  • 25'

England pick up possession but instantly lose it. This time it is Carrick with the wayward pass. The Three Lions are not having mauch joy at all today.

  • 24'

Neymar working some more magic just outside the box. He fires an effort at goal again, but this time Carrick gets the block in and it deflects into the path of Hart.

  • 23'

Brazil genuinely look dangerous every time they come forward. Hart has been England's busiest player.

  • 22'

Superb play from Neymar as he shakes off the run of Carrick before curling an effort from outside the area just wide of the top corner. Hart looked beaten.

  • 21'

Oscar's corner is headed away from the target by Gustavo. Thiago Silva is the first to react and is allowed far too easily to whip a cross into the box. Luckily for England it goes straight to Hart. Some very poor defending by the away side at the moment.

  • 20'

Brazil continue piling on the pressure as they win a corner.

  • 19'

Alves picks out the run of Neymar in the box with a fine pass. The attacker beats Johnson, who slips, before firing en effort at goal from close range. Hart, however, is quick off his line and makes a fine save.

  • 18'

Walcott comes forward once again for England, but loses it just at the vital moment. The away side need to keep hold of the ball for a little longer. They are doing themselves no favours.

  • 17'

Some good work from Neymar who tees up Alves. The full-back lets rip at goal first time from plenty of distance. It sails just wide, but it had Hart scrambling to his right there.

  • 16'

Walcott comes forward, showing plenty of promise. He has Milner on his right in space, but the Arsenal man delays his pass and soon loses possession. Poor.

  • 15'

Alves brought down again by Milner. The full-back is beginning to get rather annoyed at the treatment he is receiving from the England players.

  • 14'

Luiz comes driving forward out of position with the ball. But he fails to play the pass and soon takes a poor touch as the ball runs out for a throw-in. Scolari does not look too impressed on the touchline.

  • 13'

Brazil are seeing a lot of the possession so far. England it seems are prepared to sit back and let the opposition come at them. It is looking a pretty dangerous tactic so far.

  • 12'

Neymar takes the free-kick again, but his delivery is very poor. It sails out for the goal kick, leaving the Brazilian players in the box with no chance of getting on the end of it.

  • 12'

Alves is fouled just outside the England penalty box again. Milner the culprit this time.

  • 11'

Brazil come forward again. Oscar tries to pick out the run of Hulk with a clever ball but Cahill is there to make an important sliding tackle.

  • 10'

Neymar steps up and curls it around the wall, but it was never troubling Hart who makes a routine catch.

  • 10'

Lampard concedes a free-kick on Alves. Dangerous position this for Brazil.

  • 9'

Walcott does well down the right before cutting back inside, but his pass to Lampard is very poor and is easily intercepted.

  • 8'

England are looking very shaky at the back. Hulk again is given far too much space to push forward before sending in a cross. It falls to the feet of Jagielka, who nervously manages to clear the danger.

  • 7'

Brazil starting on top then. Their form leading up this game has been poor though, winning just one of their last seven internationals, while drawing four and losing two.

  • 6'

Brazil getting into their stride now as Neymar pours forward before shooting from distance, but it was always sailing wide of the target.

  • 5'

Hulk sends a good delivery into the box and picks out Fred. The striker is unable to bring it under control but it falls to Neymar who attempts a scissor kick. His effort, though, deflects away off a defender.

  • 4'

England take a quick free-kick and Lampard sends a dangerous ball into the box, but Thiago Silva rises highest to head clear the danger. Top defending.

  • 3'

Brazil getting their passing going as Oscar soon picks the ball up on the edge of the area before taking aim at goal. His shot canons back off an England defender, however.

  • 2'

Despite talk of Walcott starting up front, it seems as if he is playing once again on the right.

  • 1'

Cahill knocks it all the way back to Hart in goal, to a chorus of boos from the home fans.

  • 1'

Brazil get this first half underway...

  •

National anthems out of the way. We're ready for the big kick-off...

  •

The players are heading out onto the pitch to the roar from the crowd. What an occasion this is.

  •

If the atmosphere in the Maracana does not inspire England to qualify for next year's World Cup then nothing will. A real carnival.

  •

England and Brazil also met earlier this year, back in February. That night the Three Lions won 2-1 at Wembley, thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.

  •

England will be hoping for a similar result as the last time they played at the Maracana Stadium, back in 1984. That night they saw off Brazil 2-0 with John Barnes scoring one of the Three Lions' finest ever goals.

  •
