Join us again tomorrow to see if the two Manchester clubs can follow London's example.

John Brewin: ''AVB and DD the key for Cfc.''

    1. Chelsea. 2. Leverkusen. 3. Valencia. 4. Genk.

A comment from our very own Richard Jolly: ''That's the best four days of the AVB era.''

A goal inside three minutes eased the pressure and Chelsea defended solidly after that. AVB can breathe again.

  • 93'

FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 3-0 VALENCIA. It's not been vintage, as Valencia dominated possession, but Chelsea made it count when needed. Drogba was immense and Chelsea are through at the top of their group.

  • 92'

Torres has a go, but that could be it..

  • 91'

Chelsea still pushing up and Ivanovic has to hold up Aduriz. Good defending there, as Valencia got in behind for a second.

  • 90'

Three minutes to come... if that.

  • 89'

Sturridge with a few stepovers. He gets a sight of goal and, of course, shoots. Greed is something he needs to curb and it goes well wide.

  • 87'

Lots of fouls, Valencia are shot. The ref would blow up now and put them out of their misery if he could.

  • 86'

Sturridge breaks, but the frustration is kicking in for Soldado who is called up for a foul. He does look angry - probably because he has not had a kick all game.

  • 85'

The game is petering out. If Valencia are keen to make a late charge, they might want to start round about now...

  • 82'

    Mata off, Malouda comes on.

  • 82'

AVB shown smiling on the bench. He's been under such pressure that this result will be welcome relief with Man City to come at the weekend.

  • 80'

Cech forced to push the ball clear again. He will have earned his clean sheet if he gets it.

  • 79'

Luiz can't go a game without doing something silly. He hammers a shot from the halfway line that fails miserably.

  • 78'

Alves gets the ball back and juggles as Torres bears down on him. Just clears it in time.

  • 77'

Torres burst of pace saves the ball and Ruiz clatters him immediately. No foul though and he's spitting already.

  • 76'

Drogba off, he's earned his rest. £50m of Fernando Torres comes on.

  • 76'

    Costa off, Parejo on.

  • 76'

John Brewin: ''Drogba power is back. A year on from the obituaries, he is still the man.''

  • 75'

    Chelsea to win, with bet365
    Valencia to win, with bet365

  • 75'

GOAL Cracking goal. Drogba again. Mata controls and slips him though. Dinks the ball over Alves. 3-0 and it's game over.

  • 73'

Gary Neville just said that this is the best Chelsea have played all season. It isn't. Although if they go through, they won't care.

  • 72'

Drogba misses when through on goal. Rami falls over after a long ball chase and the Ivorian finds himself bearing down on Alves. He made it a tough angle and then shot wide.

  • 70'

Valencia knocking it about again, but there is very little penetration.

  • 69'

Drogba is blown up for pulling back his man after using his strength well. Valencia count themselves lucky. They still don't look like making this interesting though.

  • 68'

Costa goes into the book as well as he brings down Mata when he tried to break away.

  • 67'

Oriol makes a good tackle and the ref books him. Got the ball, but also took the man.

  • 67'

Chelsea can't keep hold of the ball and it's lost by Drogba.

  • 65'

Soldado disappoints with ball and Aduriz can't get onto it. He could have found himself in a good position, but it was overhit.

  • 64'

    Feghouli off, Pablo on.

  • 64'

    Mikel on, Ramires off.

  • 64'

Chelsea are under real pressure at the moment. Possession and chances are going Los Che's way.

  • 63'

Feghouli gets some space as the Chelsea defence parts and Cech is called into action again. He palms the shot away and out for a corner.

  • 61'

Cech palms the ball over the bar. He wasn't sure if that was going to drop in, and it probably was.

  • 60'

    Chelsea to win, with bet365
    Valencia to win, with bet365

  • 60'

Ramires robs Barragan and breaks. He switches the ball to Sturridge, who loses out when he had a good chance to beat his man and get in on goal.

  • 59'

Jonas gets onto a flick and runs at the defence. Luiz commits to the tackle, but lucky Terry was there to clear up.

  • 57'

Cech gets a hand to the free-kick - not a great punch - and Feghouli slices his attempt at a shot wide.

  • 56'

Valencia being given possession again, and Chelsea are happy to get behind the ball and attempt to hit them on the counter.

  • 54'

Trying to mix things up a little Valencia. Alba has had little impact after hitting the post early on.

  • 54'

    Aduriz for Alba.

  • 52'

Sturridge takes it on himself again. He's found space down the right, but when he should have crossed, he shoots near post again. It's saved with ease.

  • 52'

In truth, Cech has not had much to do since his tipped Albelda's shot round the post early on.

  • 51'

Costa likes to have a go from distance and tries again with the ball flying off Ramires.

  • 50'

Drogba apologises to Sturridge for not playing it sooner. He could have been in over the top with a quicker delivery.

  • 49'

Oriol almost caught in possession, but the crowd warns him early and he's able to get rid of it.

  • 48'

Drogba lines it up, tries to bend it round the wall but it goes wide. Probably better suited to a left footer that one.

  • 47'

Drogba flicks it off to Sturridge, who is blocked by Albelda. A good chance for a shot on goal from the free-kick.

  • 46'

Luiz breaks up the play and bursts forward. He's fouled, but AVB won't want to see much more of that.

  • 45'

    Chelsea to win, with bet365
    Valencia to win, with bet365

  • 45'

Sturridge starts central and Drogba is out wide. Interesting.

  • 45'

KICK-OFF Chelsea start the second half

John Brewin: ''Chelsea home and hosing, though Valencia are not quite done yet. Drogba has been magnificent, with Ramires and Mata his foils.''

As it stands, Chelsea are top. Leverkusen second and Valencia drop into the Europa League.

There's a few other games on tonight, so make sure you follow what's going on elsewhere.

  • 45'

HALF-TIME They do! Drogba started things off well after just three minutes and Ruiz helped Ramires to a second. It's easy enough and, as it stands, Chelsea are topping the group.

  • 44'

Cole throws himself to the floor as Chelsea look to hold their lead until half-time.

  • 43'

Rami tries a cross, or is it a shot? Either way it drops well over the bar.

  • 42'

Sturridge gets a gasp from the crowd as he tries a flick with the outside of his boot. Just not enough power to reach Ivanovic in an advanced position though.

  • 41'

    Ramires celebrates the second.

  • 41'

Cole gets a bash in the face, but looks to be ok.

  • 40'

He's found some space and could bear down on goal. Looks patient though as he holds off his man and runs it down the flank. Wins a corner in the end.

  • 40'

Drogba is all over the place. Out on the wide left now trying to control things.

  • 39'

Barragan beats Mata and gets a cross in. Ivanovic clears well from near his own post.

  • 38'

Valencia attempting to string a few passes together, but Oriol, Ramies and Meireles are proving tough to get past.

  • 36'

AVB doesn't look too concerned on the sidelines. He's hunched over, planning for the next round perhaps?

  • 35'

Jonas tries to turn, but there are a lot of Blue bodies back in the Chelsea box.

  • 33'

The goal does mean that Chelsea would top the group and avoid the likes of Barcelona and Bayern in the next round. Although they would do that with a Bayer draw as well.

  • 32'

Oh good lord, Genk have scored! It won't make a difference to this at the moment as Chelsea are still winning.

  • 31'

For anyone interested, it's still 0-0 between Genk and Leverkusen.

  • 30'

    Chelsea to win, with bet365
    Valencia to win, with bet365

  • 30'

Barragan cuts inside and slips it to Costa who slices it wide. Not a good effort.

  • 29'

Drogba using his power well. He is winding back the years and looks a real threat every time he's on the ball.

  • 28'

Great work from Sturridge as Mata slides him away down the right. He takes on his man instead of squaring it to the open Meireles and his shot is saved by Alves.

  • 27'

    Drogba celebrates his first.

  • 27'

Chelsea break and Ramires gets away. Drogba, dropping deep, helps out and the Blues move the ball well. Good passing move.

  • 25'

Valencia look tired already. The weight of those two goals I think. Alba screams at his team-mates and tries to get them going.

  • 24'

A stat for you. So far, Chelsea have had 34% possession. But they also have two goals.

  • 23'

Oriol fluffs his clearance again and Feghouli has a go. A curled effort is easily saved by Cech.

  • 22'

Well that makes the equation a lot easier. Valencia now need two goals to qualify.

  • 21'

Ruiz was all at sea. He thought he could hold him off, but just let Ramires waltz through and Alves was helpless. A gift!

  • 21'

GOAL! Drogba bursts away and slips the ball to Ramires. A terrible error from Ruiz lets the midfielder through and he slips home.

  • 20'

Jonas getting on the ball and running at the defence. Valencia stringing some passes together and they need to make this pressure count.

  • 18'

The ball breaks for Soldado who squares, but Jonas can't get onto it. Oriol had a bit of a mare there and could have done better with his clearance.

  • 18'

Chelsea tidy up again. It's become quite niggly after the goal and the Blues will be pretty happy with that.

  • 17'

Mata has a go, but it deflects off the wall and goes behind for a corner. Not really the best efforts from dead balls so far.

  • 17'

Meireles goes down after nobody gains control just outside the box. Somehow he gets a foul.

  • 15'

    Chelsea to win, with bet365
    Valencia to win, with bet365

  • 15'

The end to end nature of the game thus far has declined a little over the last five minutes. A bit more urgency needed from Valencia, who are out as we speak.

  • 13'

Drogba has a go from 35 yards out from the free-kick. It hits the wall. Where's Alex when you need him? Oh right...

  • 13'

Drogba wins it back and Ramires bursts away. He's taken down by Albelda cynically.

  • 12'

John Brewin at Stamford Bridge: ''Great atmosphere here, this is no occasion to be taken lightly.''

  • 11'

Valencia being given a lot of time on the ball. Nobody told Cole though, who charges down Barragan and wins it back.

  • 10'

Few, that was close. Valencia have now had a few good efforts and Chelsea will do well to keep a clean sheet tonight.

  • 9'

Albelda has a go from 35 yards! That was flying into the top corner, but Cech dives across and tips it past the post.

  • 8'

Valencia now having a good spell on the ball. Knocking it around nicely. Incidentally, they've scored in all but two of their games this season so far.

  • 7'

Terry does well to overhead it away from Soldado. Showed some athleticism there the England skipper.

  • 6'

Chelsea looking to control the ball now and settle down. They need to dictate the pace of the game.

  • 5'

Valencia could have been right back in it in the blink of an eye. Chelsea can't switch off.

  • 5'

Jordi Alba hits the post. He drifts in behind Sturridge who switched off and clattered an effort off the near post. Cech was beaten.

  • 4'

Well that will give the Chelsea fans a bit of breathing room. But the Blues have to win now. A draw is not enough.

  • 3'

He was given far too much space in the box. A long hopeful punt found Mata, then some silky footwork in the area saw Drogba lift the Blues.

  • 3'

GOAL Drogba!!! It's a goal and Mata turns inside, to feed Drogba who squirms away and hammers home.

  • 3'

That was a decent save, swerved a bit in the air but always comfortable for the keeper.

  • 2'

Sturridge goes very well to get the ball to Drogba, who slips it back to Meireles. The shot comes in from the egde of the box but Alves gets behind it and saves.

  • 2'

Ramires tries a through ball to Drogba, but the Ivorian can't quite get on the end of it.

  • 1'

Valencia close down Meireles quickly and already they look up for the game.

  • 1'

    KICK-OFF. Valencia gets us underway

Valencia lining up 4-4-1-1 with Jonas behind Soldado. Chelsea as expected 4-1-2-3.

So the teams are out on the pitch and we're almost ready for action. It's a big game for AVB's future. Roman Abramovich loves the UCL and he wants to win it!

Players to watch from Valencia, I hear you ask? Well Jordi Alba has had a fine season, while Roberto Soldado is a striker in form. A quick goal from Jonas again and it could all be over.

John Brewin is at the Bridge tonight. He says: ''Emergency alarm test at Stamford Bridge. Will that be repeated on the occasion of a Chelsea exit? Lose to City too and panic button time.''

Obviously a Valencia win and it's all over for the Blues. Will former Los Che forward Juan Mata have an impact? We'll see shortly.

If Genk win (unlikely perhaps) then Chelsea would need to win as a draw puts them into a mini-league which they would not qualify from.

So what do Chelsea need? For starters, it would help them a lot if Leverkusen could beat Genk. If they do, then a win, or a 0-0 draw are enough. But any other draw would see Valencia through.

Interesting team news from AVB, with Frank Lampard left out and Raul Meireles in. Still, it's a similar side that beat Newcastle 3-0.

Hello and welcome to the minute-by-minute for Chelsea's game with Valencia. You can tweet me feedback or thoughts at @joncarterespn

What do the Blues need to qualify? 0-0 might not be enough by the way. Dale Johnson has all the permutations.

Andre Villas-Boas' job is under threat.

Join us at 19.45 GMT to see if Chelsea can make it past Valencia and into the next round of the Champions League.
