Thanks for following tonight's game, the last domestic match in Europe this season, on ESPNsoccernet. Join us on June 11 for the opening game of the World Cup, South Africa vs Mexico. Can't wait!

  • 90'

Mourinho is in tears as he applaudes the Inter fans. This is almost certainly his last game as Inter manager.

  • 90'

Mourinho looks delighted as you would expect, but embraced Van Gaal with real humility at the final whistle.

  • 90'

Jose Mourinho becomes only the third manager to win the European Cup with two different managers, and the first since Ottmar Hitzfeld in 2001.

  • 90'

And now the party can really begin. The final whistle blows and Inter are the kings of Europe.

  • 90'

The Inter dugout is already celebrating a fantastic treble.

  • 90'

Jose Mourinho is just seconds from winning another game through slow suffocation.

  • 90'

That just about sums up Bayern's night. We will have 3 added minutes.

  • 90'

Muller puts a cross in right footed from the left but it goes way over the head of Klose, who beats his fists in frustration.

  • 89'

Milito leaves the field to a deafening ovation.

  • 88'

Inter sub: Materrazzi on for Milito.

  • 87'

Robben is caught late by Muntari.

  • 86'

Sneijder is fouled by his frustrated compatriot, Van Bommel.

  • 85'

Muller, who has had a better second half, embarks on a great run on the left but runs into trouble and Bayern lose it.

  • 84'

Muller finds Robben with a reverse ball and Robben, who is now on the left, clips it in but it is too high and fast for any Bayern player too make contact.

  • 83'

Three of the four players to score a brace of goals in a Champions League final have done so for one of the two Milan clubs. Milito is in an elite club.

  • 82'

Infact it was Robben who struck it, but the wall did its job.

  • 81'

Schweinsteiger buys a free kick 25 yards out after Stankovic trips him. Chance for Bayern. Schweinsteiger is standing over it.

  • 80'

Lahm does very well to keep the ball from going out for an Inter thrown and lays it off for Robben who shoots, rather desperately, from distance. The shot is blocked.

  • 79'

Inter sub: Muntari on for Pandev.

  • 78'

Van Bommel is penalised for a 'studs-up' challenge. He won the ball but it was considered dangerous play by Howard Webb.

  • 77'

    Yellow card: Van Bommel (Bayern)

  • 76'

Bayern are enjoyed sustained possession again, but that counts for very little against Mourinho's Inter.

  • 75'

Bayern Munich to win, with bet365
    Internazionale to win, with bet365

  • 74'

Milito is on a hat-trick now. No one has scored 3 goals in the final of the European Cup since 1969.

  • 73'

Olic has been dragged off after a totally ineffective night. But most attackers are ineffective when facing Lucio. Giant.

  • 72'

Bayern sub: Gomez on for Olic.

  • 71'

Milito has embarrassed Van Buyten for the goal and has beaten him far too easily. This is Inter's to lose now.

  • 70'

Great finish from Milito again. It's his night. Bayern are left exposed as they lose the ball in Inter's half. Eto'o plays the ball out to Milito on the left who attacks van Buyten and beats him with consumate ease before finishing right footed, low to the far corner. Wonderful goal.

  • 69'

    GOAL! 2-0 Inter! It's Milito!

  • 68'

With 66 minutes gone, there have already been more fouls in this match than in the whole of last season's Champions League final (17).

  • 68'

Mourinho brings off Chivu, who has looked rather uncomfortable against Robben tonight.

  • 67'

Inter sub: Stankovic on for Chivu.

  • 66'

Sneijder disguises a throughball beautifully, but van Buyten cut it out crucially, as Milito lurked.

  • 66'

The ball was at a good height for the keeper. A foot higher and that would have been beyond the Brazilian keeper.

  • 65'

Robben shapes a shot from just inside the box from the right. Great effort which was curling in to the far corner but Julio Cesar makes a good save.

  • 64'

Louis Van Gaal has brough on his trump card, Miroslav Klose to add extra firepower to Bayern's attack.

  • 63'

Bayern sub: Klose on for Altintop

  • 62'

Bayern come very close. The free kick is fired in and that man Cambiasso blocks the goalbound shot.

  • 61'

Robben skips between Pandev and Chivu, and the former fouls Robben on the very edge of the box on the right hand side.

  • 60'

Bayern Munich to win, with bet365
    Internazionale to win, with bet365

  • 60'

An hour has gone and Bayern are showing great spirit as they try to unlock this watertight Inter defence.

  • 59'

Robben gets the ball on the right with Inter slightly stretched at the back but the superb Cambiasso is over to cover like a shot. Brilliant covering by the Argentine. A complete disgrace that this man will not be in the World Cup.

  • 58'

Pandev is fouled by Lahm who is all over him.

  • 57'

Robben is toying with Chivu again. This time Robben finds Lahm making an overlapping run on the right, his cross is cleared but only at the expense of a corner.

  • 56'

Robben's corner is whipped in with pace but evades everybody.

  • 56'

But Bayern move the ball back into Inter territory and force a corner.

  • 55'

Bayern clear it but the brick wall of an Inter defence prevent Bayern crafting a counter attack.

  • 54'

Sneijder forces a corner for Inter. And he will take it from the right.

  • 53'

Altintop skips in from the left and shoots to the near post, but Julio Cesar was never going to beaten from that angle.

  • 52'

Pandev is tripped by Van Bommel. Sneijder's free kick is off target.

  • 51'

Muller's miss emphasizes the fact that Bayern have come from behind at half time in just once in the Champions League this season (1st leg v Man Utd), whilst Inter have not led a half time lead slip.

  • 50'

Schweinsteiger bursts into some space in the Inter half and opts to lay it off for Muller when he should have shot. His pass was too far in front of Muller and the chance goes begging.

  • 49'

Just going back to Bayern's chance; It came after 17 seconds and Julio Cesar's save with his legs was first class. But Muller should definitely have scored as they won't get a better chance.

  • 48'

    Sneijder's corner is headed clear.

  • 47'

More action in the first two minutes of the second half than the whole of the first!

  • 47'

Inter have hit them on the break and Pandev's shot from a Milito lay-off is tipped over by Butt for an Inter corner.

  • 46'

Fantastic early chance for Bayern! Inter were ripped apart as Altintop laid the ball off for Muller in the box, but Muller's shot was brilliantly saved by Julio Cesar.

  • 46'

    Second half is underway.

  • 45'

Bayern Munich to win, with bet365
    Internazionale to win, with bet365

  • 45'

The sides are on the pitch again and the second half is imminent. Feel free to get updates on Twitter, where you can follow me at www.twitter.com/mjdasilva.

  • 45'

Join me, Michael Da Silva, for the second half in 12 or so minutes.

  • 45'

A quick start slowed into a cagey, tactical affair, which Inter are edging. A good finish by Milito in the 35th minute gives Inter a slender lead which they deserve, but Sneijder should have doubled their lead a few minutes before half time.

  • 45'

And with that, it is the end of the first half.

  • 44'

The move ends with a Van Bommel shot from 25 yards, but the Dutchman pulls it wide of the left hand post.

  • 44'

We are in the last few seconds of the half as Bayern attack.

  • 43'

Bayern look exposed when Inter counter attack with Demichelis and van Buyten looking static and immobile.

  • 42'

Milito and Sneijder combine brilliantly and that could have been 2-0 before half time. Milito's pass finds Sneijder on the penalty spot, but the Dutchman's left footed effort is saved by Butt. Beautiful move and deserving of a goal. Should have been a goal.

  • 41'

Robben cuts in from the right and curls a good effort from 25 yards. Zanetti did enough to prevent Robben a clear sight of goal. Inter have reduced Bayern to harmless shots from distance.

  • 39'

Altintop tries his luck from distance but he lost his standing foot as he struck the ball and that didn't worry Inter at all.

  • 37'

Eto'o gets a sight of goal but his shot is blocked on the edge of the box.

  • 36'

Milito did superbly well not to panic and this is an uphill task for Bayern now. He staggered his finish as the onrushing Butt narrowed the angle, but it was cool finish from a natural born goalscorer.

  • 34'

That's a goal out of nothing for Inter, but beautifully crafted. Milito heads the ball to Sneijder and runs on for the perfectly weighted return pass and Milito, under pressure, finishes well into the roof of the net.

  • 33'

    GOAL! 1-0 Inter! It's Milito.

  • 32'

Inter break down the left and a deep cross finds Sneijder at the far poss who attempts a Van Basten-esque volley but he mishits it.

  • 31'

Robben cuts inside after Cambiasso and Chivu prevent the Dutchman hitting the wing. Robben finds Schweinsteiger, who finds Muller, but Muller's cross is, well, awful. Way over the target.

  • 30'

Bayern Munich to win, with bet365
    Internazionale to win, with bet365

  • 30'

Altintop skips past a couple of tackles on the left but, lacking support, his low cross is gathered well by Julio Cesar.

  • 29'

Robben whips in the resulting free kick from the right but it fails to clear the first man.

  • 28'

Another yellow card, this time for Chivu's late foul on Robben. I say foul, but...

  • 27'

    Yellow card: Chivu (Inter Milan)

  • 26'

Lucio is uncharacteristically dispossessed in his own half but luckily for the Brazilian, Zanetti gets him out of trouble.

  • 25'

Demichelis is penalised for a late tackle from behind on Milito. Demichelis pays the price for an accumulation of fouls throughout the first 25 minutes of this contest. Definitely a deserved yellow though.

  • 24'

    Yellow card: Demichelis (Bayern Munich)

  • 22'

The pace of the game has slowed into a tight, more tactical affair.

  • 21'

Half chance for Bayern after Muller tries to bring the ball down under pressure from Lucio; it breaks to Robben who tries to lob it over Butt, but Robben couldn't get the ball from under his feet and he couldn't keep his shot down.

  • 20'

Bayern win a throw deep in the Inter half rather fortuitously after the ball hit the corner flag and remained in play.

  • 18'

Bayern are knocking the ball around again in front of an Inter side that have retreated some 50 yards into their own half. It's going to take a lot to break them down tonight.

  • 17'

The ball pings around inside the Bayern box for a few seconds until Robben hacks it clear.

  • 16'

Sneijder strikes the free kick from distance and Julio Cesar parries it away. Decent effort by Sneijder, slightly too close to the keeper.

  • 15'

Bayern Munich to win, with bet365
    Internazionale to win, with bet365

  • 15'

Van Bommel is penalised for a robust tackle on Pandev. Free kick to Inter.

  • 14'

The resulting ball into the box from Robben clearly strikes Maicon on the arm (twice) and that should be a penalty. But the referee has missed it.

  • 13'

Robben floats the ball into the danger area and is flicked out for another corner by Samuel.

  • 12'

Robben is fouled by Chivu. Chance for Bayern to put the ball into the Inter box.

  • 11'

The resulting corner from Robben is plucked from the sky by Butt.

  • 10'

Altintop makes some space for himself on the edge of the box and his shot is deflected off Samuel for a corner to Bayern.

  • 9'

Schweinsteiger is hacked down by Sneijder who apologises to Howard Webb.

  • 8'

Robben bursts past Chivu too easily and cuts the ball back to Olic who can't find the target under pressure from Samuel. First sight of goal for either side.

  • 6'

Bayern are patiently knocking the ball around waiting for an opening. Looking comfortable in possession until Robben runs into trouble.

  • 5'

Van Bommel plays a great ball into the path of Olic but Lucio scurries across to meet him. Olic manages to keep possession but the move breaks down and it's an Inter goal kick.

  • 4'

Inter have Bayern pinned back but Cambiasso overhits a pass to Maicon on the right and Bayern can relax again.

  • 3'

But it's a lightning counter attack by Inter, but Milito slipped at the crucial moment. The ball fell at the feet of Sneijder who tried to feed Pandev rather than shoot from the edge of the box. Bayern clear their lines.

  • 2'

Bayern are taking the game to Inter in these opening moments.

  • 1'

Walter Samuel chops down Arjen Robben with a pretty ugly challenge. Howard Webb gives the Argentine a talking to and keeps his cards in his pocket.

  • 1'

I say Italian, but this Inter side contain no Italians. The first time in Champions League / European Cup history that a finalist hasn't contained a player from the country it represents.

  • 1'

Inter are kicking from right to left and the Italians win an early free kick deep in Bayern territory.

  • 1'

The Champions League final is underway. Inter are playing in their usual black and blue, Bayern are in their new home kit, red and white stripes.

... and the first in Madrid for 30 years.

Howard Webb is tonight's referee. Just the fifth English referee to oversee the European Cup final, and the first for 16 years.

The players are on the pitch and the Champions League theme tune rings out for the last time this season. We are 2 minutes from kick off.

The players are waiting in the tunnel as the opening ceremony entertains the fans.

If Jose Mourinho is victorious tonight, he will become the first manager since Ottmar Hitzfeld to win the Champions League with two different clubs.

An added incentive for Bayern Munich is the knowledge that a win for them will give the Bundesliga a fourth Champions League berth from 2012.

Either club can emerge as history makers tonight. Both clubs are champions of their respective countries and have captured their primary domestic cups, meaning either Italy or Germany will be celebrating its first ever Treble winners.

Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho, without suspended midfielder Thiago Motta, springs few surprises with his team selection, Chistian Chivu taking the place of the Brazilian in the starting XI. Javier Zanetti, on his 700th appearance, marshals the midfield of an Inter side that is again without an Italian.

With Franck Ribery banned, Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal deploys Hamit Altintop in midfield, with Thomas Badstuber at left back and Thomas Muller partnering Ivica Olic in attack.

Inter Milan: Julio Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu, Zanetti, Cambiasso, Eto'o, Sneijder, Pandev, Milito.

Bayern Munich XI: Butt, Lahm, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Badstuber, Robben, Van Bommel, Schweinsteiger, Altintop, Muller, Olic.

Everything is looking perfect. The pitch looks fantastic, the stadium is filling up nicely and the early evening sun is lighting up this fantastic arena beautifully.

The game is being played at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, which could well be Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho's home next season.

Good evening ladies and gents. Here we are, it's the biggest club game of them all, the Champions League final, is an hour away.
