What must Dunga be thinking? His team is coming apart at the seams. Robben brought down by Alves and it's a free kick.

  • 73'

Felipe Melo sent off for a horrible stamp on Robben. Absolutely unbelievable. He may well have cost his team a place in the semi-finals.

  • 72'

Shades of 1970 as Maicon comes over all Carlos Alberto. Alves playing the Pele role tees up the Inter man, his low piledriver hits the side netting. Great stuff.

Corner Netherlands. Strong play from Van Persie, drifting to the left he plays in Kuyt, whose cross is turned behind.

  • 32'

Netherlands are yet to create a real chance in this game. Van Persie is cutting a lonely figure up front at the moment.

  • 31'

Almost an incredible goal! Robinho dances around De Jong and Van der Weil, he lays the ball into Fabiano who back heels to Kaka. The Real Madrid man bends a delicious effort towards the top corner, only to be denied by an excellent Stekelenburg save. That would've been very special indeed.

  • 18'

Brazil looking steady at the back. Netherlands need to get Sneijder and Robben involved.

  • 17'

They seem to be some frayed tempers on the field today, Robinho in particular looking hot under the collar.

  • 16'

Van Persie strikes it, and its poor. It easily clears the cross bar and Cesar isn't troubled.

  • 15'

Excellent work from Dirk Kuyt. He closes down Maicon and forces him into an error. His cross narrowly misses Van Bommel, the ball falls to Robben, who is fouled in a very dangerous position...

  • 14'

Brazil are finding their feet now, the game has a good tempo.

  • 7'

Brazil have the ball in the net! It won't count though, Alves judged offside, correctly. His ball across was tapped in by a greatful Robinho, who now looks suitably agreived.

  • 6'

Brazil put together their first spell of possession. It will interesting to see how these two fluent footballing sides cope with this awful surface.

  • 4'

KICK OFF Netherlands get the game under way!

These two teams are yet to really show the world their best form, let's hope they can bring the best out of each other.

Will this World Cup finally get the stand out game it deserves? This match has all the ingredients to be a classic.

A very late change for Netherlands. Joris Mathijsen has been withdrawn through injury and replaced by 36-year-old Andre Ooijer.

The teams are in the tunnel. Boulahrouz, Fabiano and Dani Alves enjoy a little Sevilla huddle, almost time to get this started.

Whichever team comes out on top in Port Elizabeth will face the winner of today's other quarter-final between Uruguay and Ghana.

Both sides cruised to comfortable victories in their second round matches, and neither have truly been tested so far in the competition. Either side will have to produce their best performance of the tournament so far to progress today.

One of the key battles today will be down the Brazilian left. How will the attack-minded full back Michel Bastos handle the rampaging Arjen Robben? In the centre of midfield, how will the Brazilian brick wall of Melo and Gilberto Silva deal with the threat of Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder?

Netherlands are unchanged from their victory over Slovakia, meaning Arjen Robben starts for the second game in a row.

Brazil have Felipe Melo back in the starting eleven after injury, and with Elano still not fit enough to return, Dani Alves retains his place in the side.

At last football returns! After two long days, the World Cup is back with a bang today. What a quarter-final we have on our hands, five-time champions Brazil take on a Netherlands side eyeing a first World Cup crown.

Join us at 1400 GMT to find out whether five-time champions Brazil or perennial underachievers Netherlands earn the first spot in the 2010 World Cup semi-finals.

Netherlands are looking to beat Brazil at the World Cup for the first time since 1974. Johan Cruyff stole the show on that occasion and the Dutch legend has criticised Brazil's style of play, claiming he wouldn't pay to watch the South Americans play.

Netherlands players celebrate Arjen Robben's opener against Slovakia.
