If you feel inclined to get the full lowdown on this game, please read our full report. See you for Ghana vs Serbia in half an hour!

  • 90'

Abdelkader Ghezzal's red card changed the game and Algeria immediately looked under pressure after being reduced to ten men. His teammates certainly won't be impressed as they face England on Friday, knowing that defeat will see them eliminated.

  • 90'

Appropriate that an error, rather than a moment of brilliance, decided this one.

  • 90'

Both sides have lacked any ambition or desire to win and although Slovenia have come out as winners, it was hardly deserved.

  • 90'

The referee brings to an end this drab affair in Polokwane.

  • 90'

Andrej Komac is penalised for pole-axing Belhadj.

  • 90'

    Yellow card: Andrej Komac (Slovenia)

  • 90'

Belhadj tosses the ball into the box and Samir Handanovic punches away under pressure from Rafik Halliche. Madjid Bougherra tries to hook it back to goal but the ball bounces away.

  • 90'

We are into the first of four added minutes in the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

  • 89'

England and USA will be hardly trembling at the prospect of playing these two sides. Both have been utterly toothless in attack.

  • 88'

Rabah Saadane is waving his players forward as they win a free kick and try to launch it into the box in search of an equaliser.

  • 87'

Slovenia sub: Andrej Komac on for Aleksandar Radosavljevic

  • 86'

Stat Attack: Abdelkader Ghezzal picked up the third fastest booking by a substitute in World Cup history, 48 seconds after coming on.

  • 85'

Algeria have made some quick substitutions in the hope of turning this around. But they've shot themselves in the foot with that red card today.

  • 84'

Slovenia sub: Nejc Pecnik on for Valter Birsa.

  • 83'

Algeria sub: Adlene Guedioura on for Foued Kadir.

  • 82'

Algeria sub: Rafik Saifi on for Karim Matmour.

  • 81'

Algeria are looking to respond immediately with a corner. Belhadj whips it in from the right and Madjid Bougherra is claiming handball.

  • 80'

It was a decent shot by Koren bu the keeper will be blaming the Jbulani for that. But it was just rank bad goalkeeping.

  • 78'

GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!! Talking of goalkeeping errors, that was a howler from Faouzi Chaouchi. Robert Koren tries a speculative shot from all of 25 yards and the keeper fails to gather and Slovenia are 1-0 up!

  • 77'

Awful error by Samir Handanovic! Handanovic receives a back pass and strokes it straight to Karim Ziani. But Handanovic recovers and smothers the ball. Close to a Green-esque horror show there.

  • 76'

Belhadj terrorises the Slovenia right back, Miso Brecko, again. But fails to convince the referee that he should have won a corner.

  • 75'

And that's precisely how long Abdelkader Ghezzal was on the field.

  • 74'

He will now miss the England game and puts his side under pressure in the last 15 minutes.

  • 73'

That was absolutely stupid by Abdelkader Ghezzal.

  • 73'

Algeria's Abdelkader Ghezzal sees red for delibrate handball. He was struggling to control a cross in front of goal and blatently used his hand to bring it under control and his second yellow card was followed by red.

  • 72'

    RED CARD!

  • 71'

A decent cross by Foued Kadir this time from the right almost finds Abdelkader Ghezzal, but he misses the target with another improvised headed effort.

  • 69'

Algeria craft another half chance, with a headed chance falling to Abdelkader Ghezzal, but he glances it over the bar.

  • 68'

The Algerian fans are relentless in their support of their side in Polokwane today. But they're still unable to drown out the buzz of the vuvuzelas.

  • 66'

Algeria still looking the slightly stronger but these are two very, very poor teams.

  • 65'

Why does that stat not surprise me?

  • 64'

Stat Attack: The Slovenians have never won a match at an international tournament (played six, lost four, drawn two).

  • 63'

Slovenia continue to knock on the door with Milivoje Novakovic granted a brief sight of goal, but Madjid Bougherra meets him with a strong, fair challenge in the box.

  • 61'

Robert Koren this time shoots from distance and it woefully sails over. Again.

  • 60'

Andraz Kirm finds himself in space on Slovenia's left but hits a tame shot straight into the arms of Faouzi Chaouchi. You just knew he was going to miss.

  • 59'

The fastest yellow card for a World Cup subsitute? Abdelkader Ghezzal is immediately involved in the action and receives a booking for his troubles.

  • 58'

    Yellow card: Abdelkader Ghezzal (Algeria)

  • 57'

Algeria sub: Abdelkader Ghezzal on for Rafik Djebbour.

  • 56'

Miso Brecko, Slovenia's right back, shows dome rare attacking intent from the Europeans but after losing the ball in the box, commits a foul.

  • 55'

Algeria get forward again but Yebda is so ponderous in attack that the chance slips away. Frustrating stuff.

  • 54'

The slightest touch would have been enough to beat the keeper there, who was fully committed.

  • 53'

Belhadj whips it in very well but Samir Handanovic claims the ball under pressure from Rafik Halliche.

  • 53'

Foued Kadir is fouled and Algeria have a chance to get the ball in the box.

  • 52'

Slovenia sub: Zlatan Ljubijankic on for Zlatko Dedic.

  • 51'

Despite the fact he is bald.

  • 50'

Karim Ziani tries a truly awful shot from a distance and angle that is never going to yield a goal. Coach, Rabah Saadane, must be pulling his hair out.

  • 49'

Good chance for Rafik Djebbour as he tries to control a difficult low cross from the right but the ball bounces away for a Slovenia goal kick.

  • 48'

Promising attack by Slovenia breaks down, with Milivoje Novakovic and Zlatko Dedic linking well on the edge of the box.

  • 47'

A couple of long balls are pumped to the lanky Zlatko Dedic in the early stages of the half.

  • 46'

Let's hope for a better second half.

  • 46'

Slovenia, now shooting from right to left, kick off the second half.

  • 45'

And, if you're still awake, take a look over our preview for the next game - Serbia vs. Ghana . Andrew Warshaw is our man on the ground out there as well.

  • 45'

In today's other games, Serbia face Ghana and Germany meet Australia.

  • 45'

Comment from Herman Afandi: Algeria and Slovenia will probably play to a draw and that will open the group with 1 point each. But advantage to England and USA.

  • 45'

A lacklustre and generally very poor first half thankfully comes to an end. Valter Birsa's long range effort 3 minutes from the end is closest either side have come.

  • 45'

1 added minute at the end of this half.

  • 44'

Valter Birsa engineers another shot from distance but this low effort is less impressive, and rolls wide.

  • 44'

But Slovenia are finishing the half the stronger, controlling possession.

  • 43'

    Algeria clear the resulting corner.

  • 42'

Great effort by Valter Birsa! In some space on the edge of the box, he sends a fierce, dipping shot goalbound and this time Faouzi Chaouchi does well in the Algerian goal to tip over.

  • 41'

The corner is way over everyone's heads. But goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi still finds it necessary to backpeddle and fall over under no pressure whatsoever. Doesn't look convincing at all.

  • 40'

Slovenia force their first corner of the game...

  • 40'

Nadir Belhadj does very well again, this time he switches the play from left to right and finds Karim Matmour, who beats his man and fires just over the bar.

  • 39'

    Well, some light rain.

  • 39'

    Slovenia have weathered another storm.

  • 38'

Comment from Napoleon Okunna: ''The Algeria vs Slovenia game's a very fluid game. Both teams are comfortable passing the passing ball and love to attack. Algerian's seem to be playing 4-5-1 formation but each time the lone striker gets the ball Slovenia's back 3 are there to mop up.''

  • 37'

Belhadj skips past a few challenges on the left but is prevented from squeezing in a cross by Miso Brecko, who stood up well.

  • 36'

Karim Ziani whips in an inswinging corner from the left which is met by the head of Rafik Halliche, who wasn't picked up. His downward header bounces just wide.

  • 35'

But only for a second as Algeria force consecutive corners...

  • 35'

Algeria force a corner from the resulting free kick, but Slovenia clear their lines.

  • 34'

    Yellow card: Valter Birsa (Slovenia)

  • 34'

Zlatko Dedic gets a sight of goal but slips as he shapes to shoot.

  • 32'

For a game where both sides are looking to take advantage in Group C, neither are showing any desire to do more than play out a dire goalless draw.

  • 30'

Another cross by Foued Kadir is hopelessly overhit, but it is Algeria asking the questions at the moment.

  • 29'

Foued Kadir gets into a good position on the Algeria right, but his cross is typical of this game so far. Poor.

  • 28'

Comment from Abdul Manzoor: ''Algeria is taking the game from Slovenia I think.

  • 27'

A Mexican wave has started in the stadium. Always a sign of a bad game.

  • 26'

Algeria's keeper Faouzi Chaouchi looks very uncomfortable as he hits another backpass straight out of play.

  • 25'

Nadir Belhadj just fails to keep a Hollywood ball from Madjid Bougherra in play.

  • 23'

Looking at the replay, "clattered" is perhaps a bit strong.

  • 23'

Faouzi Chaouchi, the Algeria goalkeeper, is clattered by Slovenia's Bostjan Cesar and a free kick is given.

  • 22'

Slovenia turning up the pressure here. Another free kick, this time on the left...

  • 21'

Poorly struck from the left foot of Valter Birsa. Punched clear by Faouzi Chaouchi when he could have caught it.

  • 20'

Slovenia win a free kick in a good position on the right...

  • 19'

But Algeria craft a decent chance. Karim Ziani puts in a hanging cross from the left and, for a second, Karim Matmour seemed to be in on goal. But the ball sails out harmlessly for a goal kick in the end.

  • 18'

The theme of this game so far is overhit passes and very few sights of goal for either side.

  • 17'

Rafik Djebbour almost gets his head on a speculative cross from the right, with Slovenia goalkeeper Samir Handanovic slightly at sea.

  • 16'

Good play by Slovenia. Andraz Kirm receives a one-two before putting in a good cross from the right, but it doesn't trouble the keeper.

  • 15'

Robert Koren tries a shot from distance, but Antar Yahia put in a good block.

  • 14'

Karim Matmour is given a sight of goal after Belhadj's pass, but it was slightly too close to the keeper.

  • 14'

Slovenia are looking the more composed side in possession but are doing little with it.

  • 13'

Rafik Djebbour shows some good strength to get around his marker but Slovenia recover to clear. Something of a stalemate between these two in the opening 13 minutes.

  • 11'

Bojan Jokic wins a free kick for Slovenia in their left back position. I'm not quite sure what that was given for. If it was a foul, it was very soft.

  • 10'

Belhadj lets the ball roll over his foot as Algeria had another chance to counter attack there.

  • 9'

Slovenia, in all green, build patiently but Andraz Kirm's cross from the right goes straight out for a goal kick. But there was a hint of a deflection.

  • 7'

Rafik Djebbour applauds and overhit pass by Karim Matmour as Algeria are looking handy on the break in the early stages.

  • 5'

Algeria break down some neat Slovenia passing and Belhadj immediately looks for Karim Ziani with a long ball down the left but it's too long for the forward.

  • 4'

Slovenia can breathe again but it's Algeria asking the early questions here.

  • 3'

The resulting corner for Algeria is cleared.

  • 3'

Belhadj comes very close! He tries his luck with his left foot and Slovenian keeper Samir Handanovic tips it over.

  • 2'

Algeria win a free kick in dangerous area 25 yards or so from goal after Karim Matmour was fouled.

  • 1'

Slovenia have won an early free kick on the left but the Algerian goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi plucks the ball from the air with ease.

  • 1'

    And we're off in Polokwane.

  •

The main talking point in the run-up to this game was the fact that Algeria captain Yazid Mansouri was dropped after a string of poor performances.

  •

An interesting Slovenia fact? Well, they're the smallest country to qualify for two non-consecutive World Cups. For a country with a population of just 2 million, not a bad achievement at all.

  •

The players are emerging from the tunnel. For Algeria, 17 of their squad were born in France. Perhaps the most famous French-Algerian, Zinedine Zidane, never pulled on the white and green shirt.

  •

Read up on all the info with our preview and Uli has the lowdown on German expectations as they face Australia later on.

  •

For Slovenia, VfL Bochum's Zlatko Dedic was a constant threat throughout qualifying.

  •

Algeria have a few danger men, with Yebda and Belhadj familiar faces to followers of the English Premier League. Both have had successful spells at Portsmouth.

  •

Slovenia only conceded 4 goals in 10 games in their qualification for the World Cup, which ultimately saw them beat Russia in the winner-takes-all playoff game. Algeria, meanwhile, have never kept a clean sheet at the World Cup finals.

  •

The full-line ups are below. But if you are unfamiliar with the two teams, the stats would seem to point towards a Slovenia win.
