  • 96'

To be brutally honest, whoever pulls the team that finish second in this group will fancy their chances. Greece are negative unless they face ten men, while Nigeria are suspect in temperament.

  • 96'

It is still all to play for in Group B though. All the teams can still go through. If Greece beat Argentina, and South Korea don't win against Nigeria they are through. But if Argentina beat Greece, and Nigeria beat South Korea, the Africans could still progress.

  • 95'

A disaster for Nigeria, who were leading comfortably until Kaita's rush of blood led to his sending off. Greece pushed forward, grabbed two goals, and secure their first ever win at the World Cup.

  • 94'

There it is, Greece win and their hopes are still alive. Nigeria can still qualify though.

  • 93'

Tzilois forces Enyeama into a late save and it means Greece can waste time by the corner flag.

  • 92'

Haruna lumps a long ball forward to no-one especially. The game is fizzling out.

  • 91'

Nigeria win a free kick. All the big men go forward.

  • 90'

Vasilis Torosidis celebrates after putting Greece in front.

  • 90'

    Four minutes added..

  • 89'

Greece stroking it around and running down the clock.

  • 88'

YELLOW CARD: Ogbuke gets a yellow after felling Karagounis. Nigeria didn't make the most of their free kick.

  • 87'

YELLOW CARD: Samaras fouls Odiah and Nigeria can lump this into the box. Samaras gets a yellow for his trouble.

  • 86'

Desperate clearance from Yobo as Ninis looked to profit from a ball into the area.

  • 85'

Uche's pass for Yakubu is poor and Greece will take their time over this goal kick. I wonder how Kaita is feeling?

  • 84'

Odiah wins the ball well but his problem is the lack of numbers in front him.

  • 83'

Ogbuke looks for Odiah down the right but the ball is overhit. This is last chance saloon for Nigeria. Mind you, if Argentina beat Greece and they beat South Korea, it could still be on.

  • 82'

Uche skips inside two challenges and has a punt from distance. Decent strike but not troubling the 'keeper.

  • 81'

A half chance at the back post for Krygiakos who volleys over the bar with his left foot.

  • 80'

SUB: Afolabi came on for Echiejile while I wasn't looking.

  • 79'

SUB: Greece change, Gekas is going off and 20-year-old Sotiris Ninis is coming on.

  • 77'

Greece are slowing the game down now. Its more about holding on for them now. Nigeria are the ones who need to break out.

  • 76'

Another save from Enyeama as the ball bounced in front of him. Corner for Greece.

  • 75'

    Greece to win, with bet365
    Nigeria to win, with bet365

  • 75'

Great work from Yakubu, who finds a yard of space and has a crack with his left. It flashes a yard wide of the post.

  • 74'

Things have gone downhill for Nigeria since they scored. A Greek tragedy for them if you will.

  • 73'

Echiejile has pulled up now - that looks like another hamstring. The sub will have to be subbed.

  • 72'

What a shame for Enyeama. He's been brilliant up to now. The shot was well hit but it was right at him. He'll no doubt blame the ball but it's a poor excuse. Torosidis lapped it up. Nigeria need a goal now.

  • 71'

GOAL: Greece are in front and it is a goalkeeping error. Tragedy for Enyeama who spills a shot that was right at him and Torosidis tucks it home.

  • 71'

Space for Salpingidis down the right but Echiejile turns it behind for a corner. Greece back on top now.

  • 70'

Gekas is a yard offside as Vyntra swung a ball into the area.

  • 68'

A superb save from Enyeama as Samaras' header was powering towards the top corner. A great hand to it. Fantastic.

  • 67'

Chance for Greece as Gekas looks to get onto Salpingidis' cross. Yobo steps in to concede a corner.

  • 66'

Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama saves from Greece's Dimitris Salpingidis.

  • 65'

A series of scrappy fouls disrupt the game's momentum.

  • 64'

There has to be another goal in this. Just has to.

  • 63'

Tziolis is the latest to try a shot from silly range. There's absolutely no need for it lads.

  • 62'

Nigeria continue to push forward but Odiah's cross is too long. How did Ogbuke miss that chance? The Soccernet office is still in shock.

  • 61'

Samaras draws a chorus of boos for shooting when he had numbers up in support. His effort spirals well wide. What a game this is. I told you there's always an unlikely humdinger didn't I?

  • 60'

    Greece to win, with bet365
    Nigeria to win, with bet365

  • 60'

First, Gekas had a golden chance from ten yards out as the ball broke to him but Enyeama saved brilliantly, then as Nigeria broke Yakubu was clean through, drew a save from Tzorvas and as the ball bounced free Ogbuke had an open goal from eight yards out and he's missed it. Oh calamity.

  • 59'

What a miss! Ogbuke has missed an open goal seconds after Greece had a golden chance themselves!

  • 58'

Shittu brings down Salpingidis needlessly by the corner flag.

  • 57'

A recap of where we stand. If this game is a draw, then both teams can still qualify. If Greece lose they are out.

  • 56'

SUB: Echiejile replaces the injured Taiwo for Nigeria.

  • 55'

As the corner comes back in Krygiakos nods on goal but Enyeama saves comfortably. Nigeria need the ball out to make this change.

  • 54'

Nigeria have nine men for now and Greece win a corner as they push forward.

  • 54'

Oh dear, things go from bad to worse for Nigeria as Taiwo pings a hamstring attempting a cross and he will have to go off. His tournament is over.

  • 53'

    Dimitrios Salpingidis celebrates Greece's goal.

  • 52'

Good ball from Uche but Papadopoulos wins a foot race with Yakubu and clears for a throw in.

  • 51'

ESPN Stats & Info: The previous five red cards in the 2010 tournament have yielded four losses and just one draw for the team of the dismissed player.

  • 50'

Karagounis has a pop from 40 yards, which is ridiculous when you have a man advantage.

  • 49'

Good work on the left from Uche and Tzorvas is forced to tip it over the bar and behind for a corner.

  • 48'

Nigeria's Sani Kaita, left, leaves the pitch after getting a red card from Colombian referee Oscar Ruiz.

  • 47'

Two early balls into the box from Karagounis on the right but neither pose much danger to Enyeama.

  • 46'

SUB: We begin again and Nigeria have made a change. Odemwingie is off, and Ogbuke is on.

  • 45'

    Greece to win, with bet365
    Nigeria to win, with bet365

  • 45'

Or Jon Carter's first round awards.

  • 45'

During half-time why not check out The Fifth Official's musings on the opening round of World Cup games.

  • 45'

Lars Lagerback will be furious with Kaita. They were strolling to a victory after the sending off, but now they somehow have to fashion a win with ten men. Greece need to push forward and make this advantage count.

  • 45'

That is half-time in a game that burst to life when NIgeria went ahead on 16 minutes. Then Kaita got himself sent off and Greece launched wave after wave of attack. They grabbed an equaliser and we should have a belting second period.

  • 45'

That's no more than Greece deserve after throwing caution to the wind when Nigeria were reduced to ten men. The Africans are rocking here. They need half-time and quick. Two minutes added.

  • 44'

GOAL: Greece equalise! Salpingidis whacks one from the edge of the box, it hits Haruna and flies into the corner of the net.

  • 42'

    Nigeria's players celebrate Uche's strike.

  • 41'

Another good ball into the box from Torosidis but Salpingidis can't get in front of Taiwo. This is much better from Greece. They don't want half-time to arrive.

  • 40'

Haruna hacks off the line from Samaras' header! They're a different team all of a sudden.

  • 39'

Greece win a corner as their assault on Nigeria's goal continues. The shackles are off.

  • 38'

Alexandros Tzorvas makes a mess of Kalu Uche's delivery.

  • 38'

A great chance for Greece as Enyeama saves from the feet of Salpingidis. We have a game!

  • 37'

We could see a bit of role reversal here, as Nigeria sit back and Greece push on. Such a shame for the Africans, they were in complete control until the sending off.

  • 36'

SUB: Change for Greece, as striker Samaras comes on for defender Papastathopoulos. Promising, Otto, promising.

  • 35'

So, a big chance for Greece, and if they don't push forward now then we may as well just write them off until Rehhagel leaves.

  • 34'

Kaita pulls his shirt over his head as he trudges off and well he might - that was ridiculous.

  • 33'

RED CARD: Kaita is off! As he and Torosidis wrestled for the ball they clashed, and the Nigerian has raised a boot and raked his opponent's knee.

  • 31'

Krygiakos nods over under pressure from Shittu.

  • 31'

Better from Greece as Katsouranis looks for Sapingidis but Taiwo clears behind for a corner. Set pieces are good news for Greece.

  • 30'

    Greece to win, with bet365
    Nigeria to win, with bet365

  • 30'

Nigeria are well on top here. They could put the game to bed before half-time with another goal.

  • 29'

Nigeria's Ikechukwu Uche, right, fights for the ball with Greece's Loukas Vyntra.

  • 28'

ESPN Stats & Info: In the 1994 World Cup match against Greece, both of Nigeria's goals were scored from outside the penalty area.

  • 27'

The dreaded Mexican wave makes an appearance.

  • 26'

Papastathopoulos, the centre back, throws caution to the wind by dribbling towards the corner flag.

  • 24'

Comment from JC: "Are Greece the worst team at this World Cup?

  • 23'

Greece launch a free kick into the box and though Kyrgiakos meets it, his header lacks power and direction. So, pretty much everything then.

  • 21'

Taiwo has a blast from the free kick but hits the wall, then the follow up goes behind for a corner.

  • 20'

The 'keeper was at fault for the goal. Tzorvas anticipated a touch from Odemwingie and dived away from the ball. Then he spilled the Yak's shot a moment later. Shoot on sight, I'd be telling the Nigerian lads.

  • 19'

ESPN Stats & Info: The Nigeria strike was the first goal scored at this World Cup direct from a free kick.

  • 18'

Now Tzorvas fumbles a routine Yakubu shot and Nigeria have an unwarranted corner.

  • 17'

In terms of the game's interest, that is the best thing that could have happened. Apologies Greece fans.

  • 16'

GOAL: Uche's free kick eludes everyone, including the keeper, and bounces into the far corner. We have a goal!

  • 15'

    Greece to win, with bet365
    Nigeria to win, with bet365

  • 15'

YELLOW CARD: Papastathopoulos hauls back Odemwingie and gets a caution.

  • 14'

Yakubu tries to latch onto Kaita's neat ball into the area but Papadopoulos shields the ball back to Tzorvas.

  • 13'

Katsouranis tries an effort from 50 yards but Enyeama grabs it on his line. No doubt the Greek midfielder will be punished at half time for thinking outside the box.

  • 12'

There is hope after all then.....

  • 12'

ESPN Stats & Info: Greece have conceded a goal in all eight halves of World Cup football they have played, in four matches.

  • 11'

Now its Nigeria who get a free kick as Karagounis fouls Etuhu. Scrappy would be an understatement so far.

  • 10'

Now Kaita fouls Torosidis and Greece have a free kick on the left flank.

  • 9'

A stray pass from Odemwingie forces Odiah to run the ball out of play. Greece have a throw in out of nothing, but as the ball comes into the box Yobo hacks clear.

  • 8'

Nigeria's players warm up prior to the start of the match.

  • 7'

Greece are still looking for their first ever World Cup goal don't forget. They lost all three games at USA '94, including a 2-0 reverse against Nigeria.

  • 6'

ESPN Stats & Info: Greece's starting line-up is their youngest-ever at the World Cup (average age: 28 years, 46 days), but is still a year older than Nigeria's, who are playing their oldest-ever line-up (26 years, 298 days).

  • 5'

Now Tziolis throws a good ball into Nigeria's box but Gekas can't latch onto it. A promising opening.

  • 4'

A nice spell of Nigeria possession ends with a cross by Kaita into a very uncrowded box.

  • 3'

Yakubu and the wonderfully named Papastathopoulos slide in for the ball but Greece win the free kick.

  • 2'

There are plenty of empty seats in the stadium. Greece's reputation clearly precedes them..

  • 1'

    We're off...

If golf is more your thing, then a reminder that the US Open is underway at Pebble Beach and you can follow the likes of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson with ESPN's live commentary and analysis.

The teams emerge to a bright but sunny Free State Stadium. Temperatures dipped to -7 overnight and now stand at a spritely four degrees.

These two teams managed an overwhelming three shots on target in their opening two games. Expectations are lower than a snake's belly, I'll be honest. But, before you sink into a deep depression, there is always a game that looks poor on paper that turns into a rip-snorting goal-fest. Here's hoping.

For Nigeria, Kala Uche starts up front as Obafemi Martins again warms the bench. Peter Odemwingie starts in place of Chinedu Ogbuke.

Greece have plumped for Dimitrios Salpingidis up front instead of Georgios Samaras, while Sotirios Kyrgiakos also returns. Vangelis Moras only makes the bench.

My last memory of Greece was their insipid, wholly negative displays at Euro 2008, when they questioned my whole belief in the beautiful game. Thankfully, they were beaten three times, scoring just once in the process. They have to be better today, though ominously, coach Otto Rehhagel is still in charge.

If Nigeria win, they will effectively face a play-off in their final match against South Korea. If Greece win, they'll more than likely need to get something from their last game, against Argentina. As such, we should see goals today.

Nigeria lost their opening game to Argentina - who have just crushed South Korea 4-1 - but came close to snatching a point in the closing stages. Greece were awful during their 2-0 defeat to South Korea, and must surely show at least a sliver of attacking intent today.

Welcome along to live commentary on a crunch clash in Group B between Greece and Nigeria. Both lost their opening games and must realistically win this afternoon to keep their World Cup dream alive. If Greece lose, they are out.

Make sure you join us at 1400 GMT as Nigeria and Greece look to give themselves hope of reaching the second round.

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel believes his team can still make the knock-out stages of the World Cup, and has urged his team to give everything against Nigeria.

Victor Obinna and Pantelis Kapetanos in action in the opening games.
