Game 31

  • Jaouhar Mnari 8'
  • 90'

Spain go through and finally showed what they're made of to some degree in the second half. Tunisia meanwhile have to hope they can beat Ukraine in their final match to nick second place in the group. Torres's brace puts him as top scorer in the competition so far.

  • 90'

  • 90'

Torres is unable to score his hat-trick when he takes Alonso's long ball beautifully. His shot is high and wide and there is no time for any more.

  • 90'

Mnari cautioned for a foul on Ramos.

  • 90'

Torres picks himself up to hit the penalty home, not before Boumnijel guesses right and makes some contact with it. Spain will win this game at a something of a canter which belies the shakiness of their first-half performance.

  • 89'

Spain have a penalty. Torres was grabbed by Yahia. Definite penalty.

  • 88'

Spain's corner is again disappointing and the ball is cleared.

  • 87'

Trabelsi goes on a run but when he loses it Spain break quickly and Torres finds himself one-on-one with the keeper. This time Boumnijel makes a good save as Torres tries to go round him and a corner is conceded.

  • 86'

Raul tries a one-two with Fabregas but Jaidi reads it well and makes the interception.

  • 84'

Jaziri has now gone in the referee's book for complaining.

  • 82'

Loud cries of Ole are ringing out around the stadium as Spain knock it about. Finally Fabregas is fouled and Spain simply resume their close possession from the free-kick.

  • 81'

When the ball comes in deep the header is well over the bar and Tunisia need to make these situations count in what little time they have left.

  • 81'

The Tunisians have forced their first conrner of the game.

  • 80'

Raul is flagged for offside when Xavi could have played Joaquin in on the right instead.

  • 78'

Tunisia are about to bring on Haykel Guemamdia for Chedli.

  • 75'

    Spain to win, with bet365
    Tunisia to win, with bet365

  • 75'

Torres has got Spain's seond in five minutes. Boumnijel charges out of the goal to chase a ball when he should have stayed on his line. The pass from Fabregas is a good one and is met by Torres. He rounds the keeper on the edge of the area before knocking it in to an empty net. That should be the end of Tunisia tonight.

  • 75'

  • 74'

Joaquin, again causing problems, finds Fabregas in the area and the keeper does well to save with his feet.

  • 73'

A great recovery tackle from Mnari on the pacy Joaquin.

  • 71'

The golden boy of Spanish football does not want to relinquish his crown just yet. Raul, showing his natural predatory instincts, snatches an equaliser when he pounces on the ball after Fabregas' shot is fumbled by Boumnijel. Not the hardest goal he will score but Spain now have the platform they need to go on and win this match.

  • 71'

  • 70'

Jaziri is caught offside in that rarest of events in this second half - a Tunisian attack.

  • 69'

    Jaidi booked for persistent fouling.

  • 68'

Tunisia defend well as Ramos and Joaquin come at them from the right. Joaquin's pace could provide the key to Spain hgetting back in to this match.

  • 67'

Pernia is unable to pick out a Spanish player with his cross and Spain have wasted another decent position.

  • 66'

Another-long range one from Torres when he should have held play up and waited for support to arrive in the box.

  • 65'

A wild shot now from Pernia from thirty yards out smacks of desperation. Spain need to stay composed for the remaining twenty-five minutes and the chances will come their way.

  • 64'

Xavi's ball through them iddle spilts the Tunisian defence. Torres turns one way, but not the other and is tackled by Jaidi. He had to make a clean challenge there or risck conceding a a penalty.

  • 61'

Their substitutes have so far done little to fire a Spanish revival but Joaquin makes a decent run which yields a throw near the corner flag. Torres takes but Jaidi gets a boot to it when it is played straight to him.

  • 60'

    Spain to win, with bet365
    Tunisia to win, with bet365

  • 60'

Pernia's shot is almost deflected in to his own net by Jaidi. That would have been an unwelcome second goal for the Bolton man in this World Cup.

  • 58'

Ramos' ball is blocked by left-back Yahia when the Spaniard should have done better.

  • 56'

Ayari has also been subbed but did not look at all happy at the decision and threw his shin-pads in anger once he reached the bench.

  • 55'

Villa is off and is replaced by Joaquin .Manwhile Bouazizi comes off for the second successive game to be replaced by Ghodhbane.

  • 54'

Pernia's free-kick goes well over the bar. A complete waste.

  • 53'

Good intercception from Nafti gives Tunisia the ball but they are unable to find anyone up front and Spain advance once more. They have a free-kick near Tunisia's penalty area.

  • 51'

The ball is flighted in to Ramos but Boumnijel has to come to punch it away from the Spaniard's head.

  • 50'

Namouchi skins Puyol on the right but his cross is unable to reach a white shirt. Spain come away but the imposing figure of Jaidi is on hand to foul Raul. Spain then get a corner.

  • 49'

Xavi's shot stikes Ramos who inadvertantly acts as a Tunisian defender for a moment.

  • 48'

Spain have another corner but once more do nothing with it and Tunisia get it away.

  • 47'

Fabregas nearly scores with his first shot, a stinging drive from twenty-five yards which Boumnijel turns away.

  • 46'

Pernia's cross goes behind off Trabelsi for Spain's eight corner. They need to make these start to count but both the initial corner and the second delivery are cleared.

  • 45'

    Spain to win, with bet365
    Tunisia to win, with bet365

  • 45'

It has started to rain quite heavily in Stuttgart and this could make for a few mistakes in the second half.

  • 45'

Spain have rung the chagnes and have brought on Fabregas and Raul for Senna and Garcia. The second half has just got underway.

  • 45'

A surprising score at this stage but then again this is Spain so we should expect the unexpected. Spain have shown quality on the ball at times but Boumnijel has had little to do so far. Tunisia will shut up shop in the second half and possibly counter quickly so Spain will look to the trickery of their flair players to open them up.

  • 45'

  • 45'

The Tunisians are temporarily down to ten men and Spain look to make the advantage count. They have a corner and Xavi finds Torres who wins the header. He hits it wide though. Tunisia are not doing well in the air at these set-pieces.

  • 43'

Torres sizes the goal up and whips one in from twenty-five yards. Keeper gets a touch and when the corner is delivered Alonso makes contact with a header. Ayari is on the near post though and gets it away before seeming to injure himself when he goes up for another header.

  • 42'

Trabelsi makes another timely intecetion to break up a Spanish move down the left.

  • 41'

This time it is the Tunisian full-back Trabelsi who hits a poor cross straight to Casillas.

  • 40'

Ramos shows sonme youthful over-eagerness and mis-hits a cross in from the right when he should have showed more patience.

  • 39'

Alonso tries a swerving shot from twenty-five yards out but it is spinning away from goal and ends up hitting the hoardings.

  • 37'

The Tunisians are certainly playing well enough to not be losing this game although Spain are having the majority of the play. Their possession needs to be translated in to cast-iron chances though.

  • 36'

A nice cross in from Ramos fails to find anyone other than Boumnijel and a promising move for Spain ends with a goal-kick for Tunisia.

  • 35'

Xavi wastes the chance though and his high ball drifts out of play.

  • 34'

    Spain have a free-kick thirty-five yards out.

  • 32'

Xavi once more to take. This time it is Luis Garcia who has a free header but is not facing the goal and is unable to locate it. His header goes wide but it only needed a touch to divert it in.

  • 31'

Ayari now booked for a foul on Garcia. A clumsy challenge.

  • 30'

    Spain to win, with bet365
    Tunisia to win, with bet365

  • 30'

Ayari hits it straight at the Real keeper. Spain now break through Alonso and his cross is hit behind for another corner. Tunisia are able to deal with the ball in and Spain go back to the drawing board.

  • 29'

Casillas nervously organises a six man wall.

  • 28'

Spain now have a corner once more. This time Xavi's ball is too short and Tunisia break. Trabelsi approaches Spain's penalty box but is brought down mercilessly by Puyol who is booked.

  • 27'

Ramos fouls Haggui when he is unable to get round him using only his speed.

  • 26'

Boumnijel clears up the park as Villa was bearing down on him.

  • 25'

Torres is fouled and a classy defence-splitting pass from Villa meant for Torres is cut out brilliantly by Trabelsi. A vital interception and great anticipation from the Ajax man.

  • 24'

Chedli scampers back to concede another corner. Xavi takes and Ramos once more gets up and fluffs what was a free header from seven yards out. Should have done better.

  • 22'

At the other end Bouazizi's ball in from the right is nearly met by the head of Namouchi, who is up supporting Jaziri again.

  • 21'

Puyol waves Pernia forward and he does just that. It comes back to him and he hits another long one towards Torres who is just unable to reach the ball with his head.

  • 20'

Luis Garcia makes a classy pass with the outside of right foot to Torres but the Atletico Madrid man's shot goes wide of the goal.

  • 19'

Bouazizi then wins a thrown on the right and, when it is played to him, Jaziri tries to get the better of Puyol. He has to settle for another throw but Spain manage to win it back and get it up to Ramos.

  • 18'

Senna does well to retain the ball in midfield and now Ramos tries to take a pass on the right. He loses out though and Tunisia are harrying Sapin well so far tonight.

  • 17'

Garcia bursts in to the penalty area to chase a ball but is crowded out by Haggui and Jaidi.

  • 15'

    Spain to win, with bet365
    Tunisia to win, with bet365

  • 15'

Pernia puts a fine ball in towards the head of Torres but it is just too high for the Spanish striker.

  • 13'

Jemmali fouls Garcia and Spain then take the free-kick too quickly for the ref. At the second attempt it is played towards Ramos whose header goes over the bar.

  • 13'

Garcia's attempt at a give-and-go does not come off and a promising position is thrown away.

  • 12'

Torres gives Ramos too much to do but Ramos battles back to retrieve the ball. Torres' cross hits a defender's hand but it was ball to hand.

  • 8'

Spain now looking to reply immediately. They have a feree-kick in a dangerous area. Villa's effort is punched away by Boumnijel (CATCH IT!) and Tunisia manage to break through Trabelsi who was unable to find Namouchi with his pass. Had he done so the Rangers man would have had an excellent opportunity to score.

  • 7'

Tunisia have scored through Mnari. Puyol was put under perssure and lost out to Jaziri. He managed to get his ball past three Spanish defenders who had surrounded him before squaring to the on-rushing Mnari whose first shot is saved before he hits home the rebound. What a shocker.

  • 7'

  • 6'

Sergio Ramos gallops forward after controlling a ball well but his pass in to the box is not so impressive.

  • 4'

Boumnijel hits a poor clerance straight out of play and Spain have the ball once more. They get it up the field and some great movement from Garcia opens up space for Villa. Garcia knocks a fine ball down with his head and Villa nearly hits the back of the net with a fiercely struck shot from 25 yards. Good play.

  • 3'

A good pass from Chedli splits the Spanish defence but Namouch is adjudged to be offside. Close though.

  • 2'

Poor ball from Garcia puts Senna in trouble and he is forced to knock it out for a throw.

  • 1'

Trabelsi gets up to head it behind and it is a good job he did because the Spanish outnumbered his team in the box. The corner comes in and Luis Garcia heads wide from a difficult angle.

Luis Garcia is brought down about forty yards from the Tunisian goal. Xavi prepares to take the free-kick.

Spain win the toss and Fernando Torres gets things underway with Spain attacking the Tunisian fans to their right.

The teams emerge in to the Stuttgart evening. The Spanish will be hoping to extend a 2 year, 23 game unbeaten run.

They may not find the Spanish in such charitable mood should they go behind tonight and Spain's front pair of Torres and Villa are sure to cause them problems. Spain's ever reticent coach Luis Aragones has bigged up his sides' chances of going far in this tournament prior to tonight's match. Can Spain provide us with more evidence of that this evening?

Tonight they face a Tunisian side who threw away a seemingly comfortable one nil lead against Saudi Arabia before going behind until the last minute when Bolton defender Jaidi salvaged a point.

Spain will be eager to maintain the momentum that their four nil victory over Ukraine has provided them with at the start of this World Cup.
