Game 20

  • 90'

Sweden's first win since last year comes right at the death. Sweden could still top this group if they beat England next week. Paraguay, it's been emotional.

  • 90'

    FULL TIME

  • 90'

Larsson is running down the clock at the corner flag.

  • 90'

Ljungberg getting greedy now and his fine shot is parried wide for a corner.

  • 88'

Another late goal in this World Cup. Elmander hits a great cross in to the penalty area and the ball is headed back across the face of goal before Ljungberg knocks it home at the far post Not only has he won his country three points, he will not now have to face an irate Olof Mellberg.

  • 88'

    GOAL

  • 86'

    Johann Elmander has come on.

  • 85'

Ljungberg shows good legs at the other end to beat his man then knocks the ball back to his team-mates when he should have shot. Tiredness surely played a part in his decision.

  • 84'

Barreto is now booked for a foul on Ljungberg.

  • 83'

The corner comes to Baretto but he hits it over the bar.

  • 82'

Another long-range effort from Barreto and this time Isaksson gets a touch.

  • 79'

Lovely flighted ball in to the penalty area from Larsson but it is cleared and once it comes back in Larsson makes like a salmon and gets it down towards Allback. The Paraguay defence manage to pull themselves together and get it away.

  • 78'

Nunez hits a wicked dipping shot from forty-five yards which had Isaksson back-pedalling. It was always going over though.

  • 77'

Lopez tries a little reverse ball but Alexandersson reads it and Sweden try to break once more. Ljungberg's pass though is not good enough and does not reach Larsson.

  • 76'

A long drive from Valdez warms the hands of Isaksson who covered it well.

  • 75'

Lucic clears Acuna's cross in and now Sweden break. Ljungberg's run is followed by Caniza who covers well and stops the Arsenal man advancing.

  • 73'

Poor cross in from Edman and once more the ball is far too deep. They need to try and get to the by-line before getting their crosses in.

  • 72'

Some tired passes are being played now. A mistake could be the decisive factor in somebody scoring with twenty minutes now left.

  • 70'

Larsson, surrounded by three defenders, is unable to get a shot in on the eighteen yard-line and now Paraguay have the ball.

  • 69'

Kallstrom skips away from one challenge and his cross is hit out for a throw-in. Sweden are putting on some pressure now. They need to because time is running out.

  • 67'

Allback aims a flighted chip to Larsson after a good turn but the striker can't quite get high enough to get his head to it.

  • 66'

Ibrahimovic's loss has affected Sweden's creativity but now they are bringing on Mattias Johnson for Wilhelmsson.

  • 64'

Good tackling back from Wilhelmsson but Lopez comes back to exact some revenge and fouls the Swede.

  • 63'

Kallstrom does well to knock it in to the path of Ljungberg who is speeding through the middle but he runs in to a red and white wall.

  • 63'

Wilhelmsson hits one with the outside of his boot on the edge of the penalty area but it is always going wide.

  • 62'

Santa Cruz now comes off for Dante Lopez.

  • 61'

Julio dos Santos is now on for Paraguay.

  • 60'

Sweden have a free-kick thirty-five yards out. Larsson curls it in towards Allback but the substitute can't get his boot to it and it goes behind for a goal-kick.

  • 58'

How close to a goal can you get? A long ball over the top finds Allback on his own with just the keeper to beat. Bobadilla comes and Allback lifts it over him and sprints towards the ball to knock it in to an empty net. He is not as fast as Caniza though who clears it brilliantly off the goal-line.

  • 57'

A terrible offside decision given against Allback when he was clean through on goal. That's the second time the linesman has called it wrong against the Swedes.

  • 56'

Acuna hits a vicious low drive which Isaksson has to be alert to to smother.

  • 54'

Wilhelmsson in plenty of space on the right puts in a terrible cross when he should have ran on with the ball in to space and waited for support to arrive. A waste.

  • 53'

Larsson lines it up and curls it around the wall but his shot is well met by the diving figure of Bobadilla who deals with it well.

  • 52'

Good header fom Larsson to Ljungberg who is tripped from behind on the eighteen yard-line. A dangerous spot for a free-kick.

  • 51'

Kallstrom's left-footed drive blocked by Paraguay skipper Gamarra.

  • 50'

Valdez turns inside Mellberg but he is too wide to get a decent angle when he shoots.

  • 49'

Allback should give Sweden a physical presence although the loss of Ibrahimovic will be a blow. Larsson and he were linking well together in the first half.

  • 48'

The corner is cleared at the near post with ease.

  • 48'

Nunez takes a free-kick thirty yards out which is deflected behind for a corner.

  • 46'

Bonet wastes possession with a speculative (or should that be rubbish) long-range effort which troubles nothing other than several of Berlin's more low-flying pigeons.

  • 45'

Straight away Valdez gets on the end of a nice ball through and hits a decent snap shot which is just shy of the goal.

  • 45'

Ibrahimovic is off and Allback is on. The big Juve striker would appear to be injured. Second half is underway.

  • 45'

Hmmm. Not great but not awful either. As the second half progresses the urgency of the situation should present itself to either side and hopefully ensure that the tempo is up-ped. Sweden have shaded it on points so far.

  • 45'

    HALF TIME

  • 44'

Wilhelmsson head for the by-line but cannot find a way through.

  • 42'

Long ball in by Bonet but Isaksson comes to take it well.

  • 41'

Sweden have a corner, their fourth. It is nudged back in towards Larsson but he is unable to get his foot to it.

  • 39'

Ibrahimovic had lots of space and was one-on-one with the keeper but his shot was poor. The Swede should have taken it on further. A poor first touch did not help and he seemed to hesitate when hitting it with his left foot.

  • 39'

Nunez blasts the ball across goal and if it had a touch from anyone it could have been deflected in.

  • 38'

Play is becoming a little bogged down in the middle of the park. Sweden need to get Ljungberg involved more.

  • 36'

Another high and wide shot, this time from Riveros.

  • 35'

The game has slowed down a little and neither side has taken it by the scruff of the neck yet. Sweden had the better of the early play but chances have been rare so far.

  • 34'

Paraguay have a throw on the eighteen yard line but when they get a cross in it is too deep and nowhere near Valdez or Santa Cruz.

  • 32'

Bonet hits a ball over to Santa Cruz and he hits a good header back to Valdez whose shot is well over.

  • 31'

Santa Cruz's shot from twenty yards out is well wide.

  • 29'

A draw here means England will have won the group before their final game. Which is nice. If you're English. And it happens.

  • 28'

Sweden apply more pressure but it is eased when Kallstrom delivers a poor ball in from the left which is nowhere near anyone.

  • 27'

Sweden have a corner but Ibrahimovic can't get underneath the header and it goes out for a goal-kick.

  • 25'

Santa Cruz skips past Linderopth but Lucic puts in a more determined challenge to get the ball back. Now Sweden attack and Ljungberg plays a superb ball to Wilhelmsson who gets it caught under his feet in the area. Nice play from Ljungberg again.

  • 24'

A nice back-heel from Kallstrom in to the path of Wilhelmsson causes panic in the Paraguay defence but they manage to marshall the ball behind for a goal-kick.

  • 22'

Bonet plays a forty yard pass to Valdez who chests it down well but his clever play ends there and Sweden re-gain possession too easily.

  • 21'

Ljungberg makes a fine recovery tackle. The Arsenal man looks in the mood tonight.

  • 20'

Larsson looks to have played Ibrahimovic in well with a clever reverse pass but his partner is just offside.

  • 19'

The stadium is a sea of yellow tonight. Plenty of support here for the Swedes.

  • 18'

Nunez takes an out-swinging corner but it doesn't come off and when he gets the ball back his pass goes straight to Isaksson.

  • 17'

High ball in to Santa Cruz is headed away by Mellberg. Another comes in towards Valdes and this time it goes out for a corner.

  • 16'

Acuna tries a long one over the top but Isaksson comes out to take the ball.

  • 15'

Fine ball from Ljungberg in to Ibrahimovic from the left but the Juve striker is unable to find Larsson who is well placed.

  • 14'

Santa Cruz has just crept offside after Valdez won a good header in the Sweden penalty area.

  • 14'

Linderoth booked for a foul on Santa Cruz.

  • 13'

Bonet crosses from the right for Santa Cruz but he heads the ball off target from five yards.

  • 12'

Larsson lays the ball off well for Wilhelmsson and his shot from twenty yards is just wide of the post.

  • 11'

Riveros goes over very easily when challenged and Paraguay are happy to take the free-kick.

  • 10'

Mellberg misses it and the ball is cleared as far as Alexandersson who launches another one back in to the penalty area. Larsson is unable to get to it though and PAraguay clear again.

  • 9'

Kallstrom puts a good ball in but it is headed behind for another.

  • 8'

Kallstrom tries a long-range effort and his fierce drive is superbly saved by Bobadilla. Corner.

  • 7'

Ljungberg tackles Caniza well on the left flank and concedes the throw.

  • 6'

Alexandersson gets the ball in towards Larrson in the area but he is unable to find a team-mate with his header.

  • 5'

Kallstrom whacks it against the Paraguay wall and now Paraguay can come away.

  • 4'

Kallstrom whips it in but Paraguay again clear although once more they put a very strong challenge in and now Sweden have a free-kick twenty-five yards from goal. They are getting closer.

  • 3'

Ljungberg hits it towards the back post but Nunez heads the ball away. Only as far as Wilhelmsson though who is himself brought down.

  • 2'

Ljungberg goes flying down the wing and Caniza is rightly booked for bringing him down.

  • 1'

Larsson chases a ball up the field and after a brief flurry of excitment when he looked to have found some room, Paraguay manage to get back and snuff out the opening.

  •

Riveros is fouled early on by Alexandersson and Paraguay have the first free-kick of the evening. They fail to get it up to any of their strikers though and Sweden get the ball back.

  •

Sweden get the game underway playing from left to right.

  •

With first place probably beyond them following England's earlier victory both sides will be desperate for the three points which would leave them with a great chance of taking the runners-up spot.

  •

Paraguay themselves have not scored in six of their last ten World Cup matches and have now lost first choice keeper Justo Villar to injury. He is replaced by Bobadilla whilst Jorge Nunez comes in at left-back.

  •

Goals could be in short supply tonight in Berlin. Sweden are in the middle (or at the beginning of... or possibly even towards the end of...anyroad they are certainly in) an abysmal run of form. They have only scored twice in the last six games and even their talented striker pairing of Larsson and Ibrahimovic were unable to unravel the ten men of T and T.
