Gala handed win after Besiktas trouble

Galatasaray have been awarded a walkover 3-0 win after Besiktas fans forced a Super Lig match between the Istanbul rivals to be abandoned by invading the pitch.

The Turkish Football Federation's disciplinary committee met on Tuesday to discuss the events of September 22, which saw Besiktas fans invade the Ataturk Olympic Stadium pitch while reigning Turkish champions Galatasaray led 2-1 in second-half stoppage time.

Didier Drogba had scored twice to put Gala on the verge of a derby victory but the visiting players were soon forced to run for cover when home fans rushed on to the field.

TFF regulations state that in the event of a match being indefinitely suspended by a pitch invasion the game will be abandoned, with the committee deciding the outcome of the result.

A statement published on the federation's official website confirmed Besiktas had forfeited the game following a majority decision from the commission, which saw Galatasaray handed a 3-0 win by default.

The commission had already banned Besiktas from allowing spectators into the Ataturk Olympic Stadium for four games. As a result, Slaven Bilic's men played out Monday night's goalless draw with Rizespor in an empty stadium.
