The Sao Paulo state league ruled on Thursday to ban its clubs from appointing other managers in a measure to stop poaching in the country's oldest league.

A proposal to adopt a similar measure in Brazil's Primera Division has also been suggested by representatives of Atletico-MG.

Of the 20 sides in Brazil's top league, only three have not sacked their manager this season. Santos fired their coach after a seven-game win streak.

The move is seen as a bid to slow the hiring and firing culture in the country's leagues, although Sao Paulo state league officials admitted that the implementation details still need to be worked out.

An amendment may be considered that allows coaches who have been laid off to seek employment with other teams in the Sao Paulo league.

Only Atlético-MG, Corinthians and Avaí had maintained their coaches throughout the season.
