Santos keeper Rafael joins Napoli

Napoli have signed Santos goalkeeper Rafael amid speculation that current No. 1 Morgan De Sanctis is poised to move to Roma.

Rafael was Brazil's goalkeeper at the London 2012 Olympics.
Rafael has played three times for the Brazil national team.

Rafael, 23, said he was looking forward to testing himself in Europe but outlined his hope to one day return to Santos, where he has been for a decade.

"I always thought I would finish my career here at Santos," Rafael said. "But with the passage of time I realised that I wanted to play in Europe and in the Champions League.

"But that does not mean that one day I will come back and finish my career at Santos."

Rafael, who has won three international caps for Brazil, could be facing competition for a starting berth from compatriot Julio Cesar, who is expected to tie up a move to the Stadio San Paolo soon.
