Neymar wants Robinho back at Santos
Neymar has urged Brazilian team-mate Robinho to quit AC Milan and head back to join him at Santos.
Following the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, Milan have struggled this season although have turned the corner in recent games. Indeed, Robinho has been below-par in recent months, leading to speculation that he could be on his way out of Serie A.
Santos coach Muricy Ramalho admitted last month that Robinho was top of their transfer targets and young star Neymar has now added his backing to any move.
"I am biased because he [Robinho] is my idol," Neymar told Xinhua."To have an idol back at the club would be something special.
"If the fans want him then I want him here too. But ultimately it's the president [Luis Alvaro Ribeiro] who decides. I always want the best players to come to Santos, the doors are always open to good players."
Robinho began his career at Santos before leaving for an unhappy spell with Real Madrid, while reports in Brazil claim that Nene, Pablo Aimar and Diego are also on Ramalho's wishlist.
However, But Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani rejected the speculation and said: “Santos may be interested in Robinho, but it is not our intention to sell.”
He added no offers had been received for any Milan players: “There are 32 players in the squad, and if nobody leaves then nobody will come in. We’ll have to sell first and then buy, otherwise we’ll stay as we are.”
