Lyon's Memphis Depay 'not afraid' after home was burgled

Memphis Depay has said he will not be brought down and that he is not afraid after his home was burgled.

The Netherlands forward lost up to €1.5 million ($1.7m) in jewellery, watches and other luxury items to thieves while he was playing in Lyon's 1-0 defeat at home to Nice on Aug. 31.

"I'm not afraid any more of what goes on in this world," he said as quoted by Foot Mercato. "Of course it's very annoying and you don't want to believe it at the start. After that, you come back to reality. Otherwise, you're just in a negative spiral and I don't want to be that person.

"They're material things that have been stolen. I have things which are worth something. But money didn't make me who I am today and that's why this will never break me.

"I have changed my way of thinking and I'm happy to be here now, to be able to play games and work with the squad. The negative thing has now happened and it's up to the police to do their job."

Depay, who has scored 25 goals in 56 league games since joining from Manchester United, has joined up with the Netherlands squad ahead of the international break.
