Lens' preparations for the Ligue 1 season have suffered a fresh blow after they were banned from signing any new players.
The club's promotion was confirmed on appeal last week but, on Tuesday, the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) said that one of the conditions attached would be a ban on recruitment.
Last season's Ligue 2 runners-up had initially been refused promotion due to a shortfall of 10 million euros in their budget for the new campaign.
Now the club has announced that the DNCG wants to see evidence of a cash injection of four million euros, which majority shareholder Hafiz Mammadov promised Lens last October.
If and when those funds do appear in the club's bank account, Lens will be allowed to spend 2.5 million euros on badly needed fresh signings.
The club had been due to unveil three new players on Wednesday, including the former Celtic and Bordeaux midfielder Landry Nguemo and Roma goalkeeper Gianluca Curci.
