Valenciennes v Bordeaux: Preview

Valenciennes forward Mathieu Dossevi insists the players must give their all against Bordeaux, even though their Ligue 1 status is set to come to an end.

A 1-0 defeat at Guingamp all-but sealed Valenciennes relegation as they now sit nine points from safety with just three league games remaining of the season.

Bordeaux are the visitors to the Stade du Hainaut on Saturday and Dossevi wants to put in a good performance for everyone involved with the club.

``What is needed is to remain professional to the end,'' he said.

``We must play the game for us all, for our fans, the club, for our own pride, our families....for everyone. We have to show fight to the end.

``To say that we will play released of pressure would be too easy, the truth is that there will still be pressure on us. We should ignore it and finish as well possible.''

Bordeaux defender Mariano knows Valenciennes are unlikely to survive but is still targeting a win as they look to finish as high in the table as they can, with sixth place still a possibility.

``This will be a tough game,'' he said.

``Valenciennes are virtually condemned and we will make great efforts to win. This game is important for us to finish as high as possible.

``We have the goal of winning. We have worked well this week and all players know that we need to win. Away from home we lack victories and we will do everything to get the three points.''

Mariano has featured in all of Bordeaux's 35 Ligue 1 matches so far this season and, although he insists everyone will be pushing until the end of the season, the 27-year-old is ready for his summer break.

``I'm a little tired, but that's normal,'' he added.

``I have played in all of the league matches. For me that is good - it is the end of the season, so it is normal to be tired. We need to play and make efforts to help the team. There are three matches, we can rest after that.''
