Montpellier v Valenciennes: Preview

Striker Gregory Pujol is determined that Valenciennes make the most of an opportunity to keep the bottom of the Ligue 1 table congested when they play at Montpellier on Saturday.

Eighteenth-placed Valenciennes travel to 15th-placed Montpellier looking to halve the six-point deficit to their hosts with a fourth away win of the season.

Pujol, who anticipates the fight for survival will continue till the final day, said on va-fc.com: ``It is well known that this will go to the last days. We will have to be mentally prepared for that.

``The most important thing is to stay in contact. There are still good games to play.

``We will play for our chance boldly, thoroughly, until the end of the season.

``Everyone is concerned and will do their best to take the club out of this area.

``This is a tough game against a tough enough opponent. Montpellier have good players, we should be vigilant.

``But we have proved in the past that we are able to get results away.''

Valenciennes lost 3-2 at home to Ajaccio last weekend, having beaten Evian the week before.

Midfielder Maor Melikson added: ``Ajaccio, this happened. We are not in a good situation and do not have time to be sad.

``On Saturday we have an important match in Montpellier, who also need to win.

``We need points, we go there to get a result, hoping to win.''

The visitors' chances could be boosted by suspensions of Montpellier pair Joris Marveaux and Daniel Congre.

The duo were sent off in the defeat at Nantes which means Montpellier are without a win in four matches.
