Alex and Verratti both plan PSG stay

Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex and midfielder Marco Verratti have both expressed their desire to stay in the French capital next season.

Ex-Chelsea centre-back Alex, 31, is out of contract in June, while the form of Verratti, 21, has apparently attracted the attention of Juventus and Real Madrid.

Alex recently revealed that he plans to spend at least another season in Europe before thinking about returning to Brazil and, on Sunday, he said he had begun negotiations with PSG over a new deal.

"We're discussing an extra year and some good news could arrive very soon -- maybe even next week," he told Le Parisien.

Verratti inked a new contract in the summer, which in theory should tie the Italy international to PSG until June 2018. The former Pescara player is enjoying an excellent season and he sees no reason to move on.

"I will be in Paris next season," he told L'Equipe. "I feel very good in France. I don't know if it's only down to me but my desire really is to stay at PSG."

Meanwhile, L'Equipe reports that PSG manager Laurent Blanc could also be set to sign a new deal.

The newspaper says the club's Qatari owners had hesitated after PSG were knocked out of the Coupe de France by Montpellier and drew at Guingamp in the league last month, but an extension now appears to be in the offing.
