'Difficulties' over Matuidi deal extension

Laurent Blanc has said that there are "difficulties" in extending midfielder Blaise Matuidi's Paris-Saint Germain deal.

Blaise Matuidi is being sued by his former agent
Matuidi's current deal expires in June.

Matuidi, 26, is out of contract next summer and PSG are keen to keep hold of the France international, who has underpinned the champions’ success since joining them from Saint-Etienne in 2011.

"We're not going to hide the fact that, when a player comes to the end of his contract in June, you can always lose him. He can talk to another club as of January. That's the case with Blaise," Blanc told RMC.

"There are difficulties -- not regarding the desire to prolong the adventure with PSG, but with the agents. That has set us back a little bit regarding the deal with Blaise."

Matuidi is at the centre of a legal wrangle with French agent Jean-Pierre Bernes, who has accused the player and Mino Raiola, his alleged new representative, of breach of contract.

Bernes has demanded 3.5 million euros from Matuidi and five million euros from Raiola in damages, and while the case rumbles on the player's future remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, Blanc said he hoped to find himself at the negotiating table with PSG’s owners, with recent French media reports indicating that they were willing to improve his two-year deal and offer him a third season should he win the French title.

"Of course I want to extend my contract,” he said. “I want to continue, because I think with the club's project, Paris Saint-Germain is really among Europe's big clubs. In the future, I think they're going to be one of the best European clubs.

"When you're a coach, and you have the good fortune to have a club which has huge economic means to go and get the best players, that it already has very good players...I don't know a coach who wouldn't like to be in my position."
