Blanc blames pitch for draw

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has criticised the Stade du Roudourou pitch for his side’s lacklustre 1-1 draw to Guingamp.

Brazilian defender Alex Costa scores for PSG.

Both sides struggled to break the deadlock until the final 10 minutes when two goals in three minutes lit up the match.

The home side looked as if they had clinched the winning goal through Mustapha Yatabare in the 84th minute but PSG defender Alex proved the hero for the Ligue 1 frontrunners, salvaging a precious point with little time to spare.

And after the match Blanc said he was satisfied with the result but believed his side were held back by the condition of the pitch.

"It is always difficult to win games. We came here to win even if we had a lot of respect for Guingamp," Blanc said.. "But if we were sluggish, what were Guingamp?

"We had the majority of the ball, so they just waited for us. It is disappointing but I am still satisfied that we never gave up and came back to get a deserved point.

"I also remember Thiago Silva was not there tonight. We were not as good as usual today. Why? I don't want to hide behind it but the state of the pitch was deplorable.

"It is the case for both sides but it handicaps the team that plays the most football.

"We knew it would be difficult and we have to get on with it. It maybe won't be the last time either, but we were not exactly helped."
