Bordeaux lose away to Bastia

Bordeaux missed the chance to move up to fifth place in Ligue 1 after losing 1-0 away to Bastia on Saturday.

Bastia celebrate after Adama Ba scored the only goal of the game against Bordeaux.
Bastia celebrate after Adama Ba scored the only goal of the game against Bordeaux.

Midfielder Adama Ba scored the winning goal in the 42nd minute of a hard-fought match as Bastia moved up to 12th, one place ahead of Nice.

Following a bright spell of form, eighth-place Bordeaux have lost three straight games in all competitions and were beaten 3-1 at home by Paris Saint-Germain in the League Cup quarterfinals this week.

Marseille's home match against Valenciennes was postponed because of torrential rain. The league has yet to decide when it will be played.

Nice beat Ajaccio 2-0 thanks to goals in each half from Belgian midfielder Christian Bruls and Argentine striker Dario Cvitanich's eighth of the season.

Lorient climbed up to ninth place after beating Guingamp 2-0 at home. Lorient took control early on with two goals inside the first 12 minutes from midfielder Yoann Jouffre and forward Kevin Monnet-Paquet.

Montpellier won away to Sochaux 2-0, going ahead ahead through winger Anthony Mounier in the 20th minute. Things got worse for strugglers Sochaux when Nathan Sinkaka was sent off in the 34th minute after picking up his second yellow card.

Defender Siaka Tiene sealed the win in the 74th minute as Montpellier climbed up to 16th under new coach Rolland Courbis.

Rennes and Evian played out a 0-0 draw.
