Radamel Falcao still sidelined by injury

Radamel Falcao will not be back in the Monaco side for Sunday's game at home to Ajaccio as he continues to struggle with a thigh injury.

Falcao injury played down

The Colombian striker, 27, has missed Monaco's last two league games with the problem but had been expected to make a return this weekend.

"Radamel Falcao is continuing his recovery from his thigh muscle niggle," a statement on Monaco's official website read.

"Though the situation is improving, he is still experiencing some pain. The club wishes, as a precaution, to not authorise a return to competition until the clincal tests, complementary examinations and on-pitch tests have been normalised."

Some reports have speculated that the injury is a smokescreen as the prolific forward angles for a move away from the Stade Louis II in January. He has been strongly linked with both Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri and sporting director Vadim Vasilyev have both insisted that Falcao -- who has hit nine goals in 14 top-flight outings since signing a five-year contract last summer -- is happy in the principality.
