Lorient fans plan PSG ticket protest

A group of Lorient fans will boycott Friday's visit to Paris Saint-Germain in protest at inflated ticket prices for away fans at the Parc des Princes.

Les Merlus Ultras stated they would not be travelling to the French capital for the Ligue 1 encounter as PSG would charge them 35 euros for entrance, more than three times the national average, they claim.

"For some seasons now, the Parc des Princes has become a symbol of 'football business', which we have rejected completely for a number of years," the group said in a statement, adding steps taken by PSG to rid itself of many of its own ultra groups in recent years was also behind their action.

"Already, the first measures taken to restrict the liberty of long-standing PSG fans had put off some of our number, who stated 'solidarity among ultras' as motivation for the boycott.

"Now, the ticket prices for away fans have reached their peak. The Parisian club asks us for 35 euros to get into the away section while the national average is 10 euros."

The boycott comes just a day after PSG announced an agreement with the Qatar Tourism Authority, which will reportedly bring the Ligue 1 champions 200 million euros a year come 2016.
