Brest v Sochaux: Preview

Veteran Sochaux defender Omar Daf will not mind if his team win ugly tomorrow as they look to move a step closer to Ligue 1 survival at the expense of his former club Brest.

The 36-year-old, who moved to Montbeliard last summer after his Brest contract was not renewed, returns to the Stade Francis le Ble with his team three points above third-bottom Evian heading into the final three games of the campaign.

An away win could condemn the bottom-placed hosts to Ligue 2 football next term, but would be a big boost for Eric Hely's visitors, and Daf has urged the visitors to win at all costs.

``If we win in Brest, it will be a big step towards staying up,'' he told www.lepays.fr.

``Against Lorient (last weekend's 1-0 home win), we suffered a lot and we showed other values that it is necessary to show at such times. There is so much pressure - the result is everything.

``So if it's not always spectacular, that's too bad. It's about the solidarity, and mutual assistance with the young players, who are learning and listening.''

Sochaux defender Carlao is doubtful for the game after injuring his leg against Lorient. Striker Giovanni Sio may also be missing for the visitors after sitting out training earlier this week due to illness, but goalkeeper Pierrick Cros is back in contention following a knee injury.

Brest caretaker manager Corentin Martins will be looking to arrest an eight-game losing run which has seen his side slump to the foot of the standings - six points from safety.

Sporting director Martins took over the first-team reins last month after the club slipped into the bottom three, but they have failed to pick up a point since and hit rock bottom last weekend when they went down 2-1 at Montpellier and Troyes beat Evian 1-0.
