France's World Cup winners won't fall out over Ballon d'Or - Raphael Varane

Raphael Varane has said there will be no friction in the France squad if one of the six members nominated for the Ballon d'Or wins the award.

Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann, N'Golo Kante, Hugo Lloris and Kylian Mbappe join Varane on a 30-strong list of nominees after France's World Cup win in the summer.

PSG forward Mbappe and Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann are among the front runners for football's most prestigious individual honour, the winner of which will be announced in Paris on Dec. 3.

"I think there won't be a problem between us -- it wouldn't make sense to fall out because of the Ballon d'Or," Real Madrid defender Varane told France Football.

"If a Frenchman wins it we'll be happy, whoever it is.

"It's in the news, but we don't talk about it. We speak about what was done well, but not [that] this one deserves it more than another.

"We all contributed. You can't say: 'He doesn't deserve it, he didn't work.'"

Varane's Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema, who has been frozen out of the France team since 2015, is also on the list of Ballon d'Or nominees.
