Paul Pogba: France must make amends for Euro 2016 final defeat

Paul Pogba wants France to exorcise the ghosts of their Euro 2016 final defeat in the World Cup final on Sunday.

France beat Belgium 1-0 on Tuesday to book their place in the Moscow showpiece against either Croatia or England, who meet on Wednesday night.

Manchester United's Pogba told L'Equipe that the Euro final defeat to Portugal still hurt and urged his teammates not to miss the chance to make amends.

"It is beautiful, it is good," he said. "We are happy, but there is still one more step to take.

"Today, I am happy. However, this is not like Euro 2016. We were lucky enough to be in that final and we missed out on something beautiful. We must not let this chance pass.

"There is still a big step left, so we need to focus again. We will enjoy ourselves a little, not for long -- we must be focused for the final.

"The Euro was too beautiful; I still have that on my mind. We were there, we were so close to the title, and we just fell short. I do not want to relive that.

"I am happy because we have made people happy, but I hope to make them even happier on the evening of Sunday July 15."

Pogba dedicated the win to the 12 Thai boys and their football coach who were rescued from a cave after being trapped for 17 days.

Meanwhile, teammate Antoine Griezmann said he believed France's performance had shown some of the qualities of his club side, Atletico Madrid.

"I'm very happy with the performance of my teammates," he told L'Equipe. "We defended and scored a goal from a set piece. It was a bit like Atletico. I really felt at home."
