Kylian Mbappe revelled in his "dream day" after securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco and then scoring a goal for the France national team in a 4-0 World Cup qualifying win against the Netherlands.
France took a big step towards qualification for next summer's World Cup finals in Russia with the victory in Paris, with Antoine Griezmann getting them off the mark in the 14th minute after exchanging passes with Olivier Giroud before applying a cool finish.
But the night belonged to Thomas Lemar and Mbappe. Arsenal and Liverpool target Lemar scored twice, including a sweetly-struck volley in the 73rd minute which killed off the Dutch, before 75th-minute substitute Mbappe underlined his frightening potential with a late fourth.
Holland, who were disappointing overall, could feel hard done by at Kevin Strootman's dismissal for two yellow cards and wasted a golden chance to equalise when Arjen Robben headed back across goal when completely unmarked.
Les Bleus were good value for the win though, and it left them three points clear of Sweden -- who lost in Bulgaria -- with three matches left to play in Group A.
Mbappe told reporters after the match: "It was a beautiful day, with a beautiful signature, a great victory and a goal.
"It's approaching a dream day, definitely.
"We played a great game from start to finish and the crowd enjoyed it, so everyone is happy.
"Personally and collectively, we are proud to achieve this kind of performance. Today, we have imposed ourselves against a great team with the way we hope to continue along this path.''
And France manager Didier Deschamps was equally delighted with a "positive'' performance from his side as his young stars shone in the comprehensive beating of the Dutch.
Deschamps told TF1: "It was a successful match. They had a chance with Robben's header, where they could have equalised. They had 10 men but we did a lot of good things with the ball, it was a collective effort.
"It was a very positive match. We are there, there are still nine points to play for.
"We got the result we wanted and we are focused firstly on ourselves [but] the fact Sweden lost is not a bad thing.''
Lemar, who was reportedly the subject of a £90 million bid from Arsenal earlier in the day, showed exemplary technique to volley a rising shot past the helpless Jasper Cillessen in the Holland goal after Stefan de Vrij's defensive header bounced his way.
France's attacking players were queuing up to score the third, with Lemar ultimately the man on target after Griezmann squared to him when he could have had a shot himself.
Mbappe, who now looks poised to complete a £166 million move from Monaco to PSG next summer after completing an initial season-long loan deal on deadline day, had already drawn a smart save from Cillessen before scoring an excellent fourth.
He bamboozled the Dutch defence with a mazy run, fed the ball wide to Djibril Sidibe and his precise cut-back was dispatched low into the net in the first minute of injury time.
