Antoine Griezmann: France must start quicker to win European Championship

Antoine Griezmann believes France can win Euro 2016, but they need to replicate the form they showed in the second half against Republic of Ireland.

France made a slow start against Ireland before eventually fighting back from a goal down to win 2-1 thanks to a Griezmann double.

Didier Deschamps' side will face a similar challenge against Iceland, and Griezmann is keen for Les Bleus to assert their authority on the game this time rather than have to fight their way through to a semifinal clash with Germany.

"We have a great team with lots of quality players and the coach knows it," Griezmann told UEFA.com. "He always tries to play the best team.

"For the first half we were poor and in the second it was a very different French team. It was the French team that can go all the way.

"So, if we keep acquitting ourselves that way, with that desire, I am sure that we can go all the way."

Olivier Giroud has been criticised for his contribution but his strike partner Griezmann is happy with the Arsenal forward's performances.

"He is a target man who likes to flick the ball on and lay it off for others," Griezmann said. "We saw the way he put me in on goal with his header against Ireland. He put me in the best possible position and I tried to finish it as well as I could."
