France manager Didier Deschamps displeased with second-half display

France coach Didier Deschamps was pleased with his side's 3-2 friendly win over the Netherlands on Friday, but disappointed to see the team take their foot off the gas in the second half.

A late goal from Blaise Matuidi won the match for the visiting French side, but only after they'd surrendered a two-goal lead in the second period.

Speaking to L'Equipe after the game, Deschamps expressed his displeasure with allowing the home side back into the game.

"The first Dutch goal was scored with the hand but we lacked concentration for the second, and we have to avoid that," Deschamps said.

"We came out very well in the first half, the second was not as good. We ended up winning, that is favourable for us, but we have to work harder. Holland also changed their system, there were two games in one.

"We controlled the match but it could easily have finished 2-2, even though we had seven or eight chances. We have to be able to manage the game better."

Deschamps praised the Premier League contingent in his side, including recalled West Ham winger Dimitri Payet and debutant Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante.

"Payet was very good," he said. "Every time he touched the ball, he made a contribution.

"He confirmed with us what he has done with his club. He is in great form.

"N'Golo Kante was in his Leicester mode. He brought aggression and helped recover the ball. I gave him a chance to play and he was not stressed, he was relaxed.

"Olivier Giroud is in a testing period with his club [Arsenal] but he has been consistent with us."
