Giuseppe Rossi '99 percent' certain to leave Fiorentina, says agent

Italy international striker Giuseppe Rossi is "99 percent" certain to leave Fiorentina during the January transfer window, his agent has told an Italian radio station.

The American-born Rossi has found opportunities difficult to come by since returning from a knee injury which saw him miss the whole of the 2014-15 season.

With Rossi playing a bit role, Fiorentina have surprisingly risen to second in the Serie A table this season, just one point behind leaders Inter Milan. As a result, Federico Pastorello says his client's exit from the club during the upcoming window is almost certain.

"The club has realised it cannot keep hold of the lad because he wants to play," Pastorello told Radio Marte on Wednesday.

"He will 99 percent leave Fiorentina in January."

Sampdoria and Bologna had been considered the favourites to receive Rossi on a loan.

While Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has said his club would be happy to take Rossi for a spell providing coach Vincenzo Montella agrees, Bologna sporting director Pantaleo Corvino ruled the Rossoblu out of the race on Wednesday.

"Roberto Donadoni plays 4-3-3 and Rossi wouldn't have much space in that system, because we already have Mattia Destro," Corvino told Lady Radio.

"The quality of the player is not up for debate, but he is not part of our plans."
