World Cup 2030: Algeria considering joint bid with Morocco and Tunisia

The United States, Mexico and Canada earned a 134-65 vote win over Morocco to earn the right to host the 2026 World Cup.

Algeria are considering a joint bid with Tunisia and Morocco for the 2030 World Cup, the country's sports minister has said.

Morocco recently bid for the 2026 tournament, but were beaten by a North American coalition of United States, Canada and Mexico. However, Algerian sports minister Mohamed Hattab told reporters that the Maghreb countries are "studying the possibility" of making an immediate offer for the next World Cup.

"An application from the Maghreb with Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia can be achieved through existing infrastructure as well as future projects," said Hattab.

"When we look at our cities, with the sporting and culture facilities present, we are able to consider that we can host major world events."

Morocco has made five bids to host the World Cup, but has so far been unsuccessful on every occasion.
