U.S. international Julian Green has thanked the fans who followed Jurgen Klinsmann's side at the World Cup, saying the players wanted to build on the momentum generated by tournament.

Green, 19, gave his side hope in their round-of-16 defeat to Belgium when he volleyed home with his first touch after coming on as an extra-time substitute to put them back in a game they eventually lost 2-1.
His last competitive goal had come for Bayern Munich's reserves in October, and writing in his Bild column, he said: "I was a bit nervous, but it was more like a positive tension because I was looking forward to making an appearance.
"What happened was unbelievable -- I scored with my first touch. But I had no time to celebrate... I wanted the match to continue so we could score the equaliser.
"Sadly, it did not work out. But I think that we played a great World Cup. We played passionate football and were outstanding representatives for our country worldwide.
"Our fans in Brazil were incredible. Every match was like a home match. And we also witnessed the enthusiasm in the United States and all over the world."
He said the atmosphere in the dressing room after the Belgium defeat had been quiet, adding: "The disappointment was huge, but the coach gave a speech and said that we could be proud.
"We want to carry on this momentum, just like Germany did after the 2006 World Cup."
