Chile look to bounce back in Copa

Chile will ease the pain of their dramatic World Cup round of 16 exit to hosts Brazil at the 2015 Copa America, midfielder Arturo Vidal has told kicker.

- Sampaoli proud despite Chile exit
- Coelho: Brazil given a lucky reprieve
- McNeice: Pinilla career epitomised by one shot

The Chileans hit the bar in the last minute of extra time with the score at 1-1 before going out on penalties, with their final effort of the shootout also coming back off the woodwork.

"It just hurts," midfielder Vidal told German football magazine kicker. "We were unlucky with the draw. But this difficult path has won us respect. We had the favourites on the edge, and we'll take that to the Copa next year."

The 2015 tournament takes place in Chile, and Vidal believes the hosts will be favourites.

"We will work hard, especially because we are also the hosts," he said. "The dream of winning the World Cup might be over, but the one to win the Copa lives on. We will give it our all during the preparations.

"I'd like to think we are the favourites. If we play with as much passion as we did at the World Cup, it will be really difficult to beat us. The Copa will be our revenge."
