Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has tipped Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana to earn a place in England's World Cup squad next summer.
Lallana, 25, enjoyed his breakthrough season under Pardew's guidance at Southampton and continued to thrive as they earned back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
Lallana's form saw him called up to England boss Roy Hodgson's squad for the recent friendly against Chile, and after watching his former player impress in the 1-1 draw at St James’ Park Pardew said: "He's a different sort of player to the other English boys they've got.
"He made a little difference when he came on for sure. He's definitely got a chance of going to the World Cup, and he proved that to the Newcastle faithful today in the second half.
"Having said that, we had great chances in the second half to have won that. It was tight, a close game. I should think their manager is pretty proud of his team, and I am too -- it was a good game."
