Deschamps, 45, guided Les Bleus to a place at next summer's World Cup as his side overcame their two-goal first-leg deficit with a 3-0 defeat of Ukraine in their play-off encounter on Tuesday.

In the immediate aftermath at the Stade de France, FFF boss Noel Le Graet declared qualification meant Deschamps' contract would be automatically extended through to the next European Championship, which the French will stage.

"Deschamps will lead the team until 2016, it was written," he said. "It's not something that happened in the corridors here this evening."

The pair will meet at the FFF's Paris headquarters on Wednesday to finalise the details.

According to L'Equipe, Deschamps will likely ask for his medical staff to be increased while the sports daily also claims the 1998 World Cup winner would like to add Sunderland's fitness coach Antonio Pintus, with whom he has already worked during his coaching career at club level, to his backroom staff on an ad hoc basis.
