Luis Suarez: No stranger to controversy

Liverpool and Uruguay forward Luis Suarez is at the centre of yet another biting incident after apparently biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.

Uruguay forward Luis Suarez is no stranger to controversy, and after he appeared to bite Italy's Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder Tuesday in their final Group D World Cup match, here's a look at some other incidents from his past.

Luis Suarez, playing for Liverpool, took a bite out of the arm of Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.

- April 21, 2013: He was suspended 10 games by England's FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a league game in the 2012-13 season. Liverpool drew 2-2 on a game-tying goal by Suarez. "I was angry after giving away a penalty -- I completely lost it," Suarez said later in a newspaper interview. Suarez had been shown a yellow card for a different incident in the match.

Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches in the Patrice Evra incident.

- Oct. 15, 2011: He was accused of making a racially charged comment at Patrice Evra in a Manchester United vs. Liverpool game that ended in a 1-1 draw. Suarez was not booked in the match. He was fined 40,000 pounds and received an eight-match suspension. Suarez has denied these accusations. In a later game, Suarez refused to shake Evra's hand before kickoff.

Luis Suarez received a seven-match ban for biting PSV midfielder Otman Bakkal while playing for Ajax.

- July 2, 2010: At the 2010 World Cup, he famously received a red card in the last minute of extra time in a quarterfinal match against Ghana when he stopped the ball at the goal line with his hands. He received a red card, but Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty kick. Uruguay advanced on penalty kicks, appearing in a World Cup semifinal for the first time since 1970.
