Bosnia and Herzegovina FA to probe assistant coach over alleged punch

Bosnia and Herzegovina-Greece
Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina came to blows in Friday's World Cup qualifier.

The Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina has said it will investigate assistant coach Stephane Gilli after he appeared to punch an opposing Greece player during an on-pitch brawl.

The incident happened following Friday's World Cup qualifier in Zenica, which ended in a 0-0 draw, with Bosnia's Edin Dzeko and Greece's Kostas Manolas -- teammates at Roma -- involved in a confrontation that led to a melee between the two sides.

Greece's Giannis Gianniotas appeared to race over to the brawl before tangling with Gilli, while he was later pictured with a missing tooth.

A statement from Bosnia and Herzegovina's governing body read: "First of all we express regret and apologise because of an incident that took place after the match. [We] condemn any form of violence, no matter who [is involved].

"The actions of assistant coach Stephane Gilli will be analysed, after which the relevant authority shall take an appropriate decision."

The statement also accused Greece of being overly physical during the game and claimed that Bosnia midfielder Senad Lulic needed an operation after fracturing his cheekbone, while defender Toni Sunjic was struck on the head.
