Germany suffered a significant injury blow at the Women's World Cup, as star midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan has been ruled out of their remaining group stage matches with a fractured toe. Marozsan, 27, suffered the injury during Germany's 1-0 win over China on Saturday but managed to play the full 90 minutes. Germany manager Martina Voss-Tecklenburg confirmed the severity of the injury Tuesday and was reluctant to put a time frame on Marozsan's recovery, but she did rule her out of the team's group matches against Spain and South Africa. "Dzsenifer has fractured her toe. She will not feature in the rest of the group stage," Voss-Tecklenburg said. "We will try to bring her back on to the pitch over the course of the tournament, but there can be no prognosis. "You cannot replace a player like her -- that simply does not work, as she has special skills and traits. We will have to try to compensate as a team and adjust our way of playing. "But this absence hurts, on a personal level as well, because it is a special tournament for Dzseni." Marozsan, who plays her club football for Olympique Lyonnais, is regarded as one of the world's best players. She finished third in the 2018 Ballon d'Or and in April picked up her third consecutive Division 1 Féminine Player of the Year award.
