Lindsey Horan fit for Women's World Cup, says coach Jill Ellis

ENFIELD, England -- The United States women's national team should have midfielder Lindsey Horan fully available when it plays its first game in the FIFA Women's World Cup, according to coach Jill Ellis.

The reigning NWSL MVP and a finalist for 2018 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, Horan has yet to play a full game for the U.S. in 2019 because of a quadriceps injury that kept her out of the national team lineup during the SheBelieves Cup in February and March and a hip injury that limited her more recently.

Horan entered the team's final game before the World Cup on May 26 as a halftime substitute but didn't start because of what a U.S. Soccer official termed as "load management" as she returns to full health.

With the U.S. now in camp at Tottenham's training facility outside of London, Ellis confirmed that Horan is ready to play 90 minutes and would participate as normal in a scrimmage Monday.

"She's doing well," Ellis said.

Horan, who turned 25 last week, established career highs with three goals and eights assists in 19 appearances for the U.S. in 2018.

The U.S. will continue to train at Tottenham's facility through Thursday, then depart for France. It plays Thailand in Reims on June 11.

"At this point, its not add-ons," Ellis said of the work in camp. "It's trusting what we've done and trusting the process. And knowing what tool would need to be sharpened for a game."
